Deer creek 3/20
Started the day around 945 at a the Charleston area of deer creek where the bridge crosses and I decided to just stand right at the base of the of the bridge. I had on a special TD jig head and a red currly tail grub tipped with a night crawler. First cast and caught an 8" trout. After releasing it I cast out with same worm on the same jig and again caught another small trout about 8" maybe the same I donít know. But I was excited for the day. This time I had to put on new nightcrawler. After 35 minutes nothing more happened. I moved to the other side and nothing.
After 30 more minutes I drove down to walsburg state park area. When I got there 2 guys were just leaving holding a bucket with 6 fish. They said they were there for 3 hours and caught most early which didnít give me much hope but I had to try. I put my lines out one with power bait and the other with crawler and within 5 minutes I was getting hits on the crawler. Over the course of 20 minutes I went through 4 crawlers as they chewed them up. But I never got a hook set. I fished for about an hour and had to give up with no further activity. It was day of starting off hot and finishing cold.

Well, that's fishing.....and you got out and enjoyed some good time on the water.....I haven't been finding any 'hot' fishing myself lately, so hopefully as the weather warms, so will the fishing success....Guluk..

You do know that you can edit your own posts and correct the title, don't you? Wink

How are you rigging your worms?

When putting it on jig head with grub on and Iím using it as a tip I break the worm in thirds in run the hook right down the middle of the of it gets til I get towards the ends leavings some to hang and dangle.
When Iím putting it on a hook I break it in half and and thread it through the same way.

Sounds about right, just making sure you weren't mashing a whole worm on the hook with most of it dangling down and are left wondering why you keep losing so many worms and fish.

Thanks for validating my technique. I havenít really been taught. I just taught myself and thatís what I came up with. I felt a whole worm was to much and running it through the body like i do for catfish I lose less worms. And dangling about 1/2" to and 1" I feel gives some visual appeal. If there is a better way Iím open for learning. I like to learn and want to learn other techniques that may be better.
