UT with TubeDude - 5/16
My brother and I met up with TubeDude on Wednesday to find some fish and watch the master at work. He has already covered the majority of our day with his report. Suffices to say, Pat gave us a show and was into kitties non-stop between Lindon harbor and the bubble up. We got a few kitties in here and there, but nothing worth posting to the contest yet. WB molested our bait all morning and the occasional one was greedy enough to stuff a catfish hook with bait in itís mouth. WB meat was our bait of choice.

TubeDude decided he was going to leave at least a couple fish uncaught and headed out (dunno what time, noonish?). He was kind enough to leave his remaining bait with us (baby white bass, chubs, and carp meat). My brother and I were in it for the long haul so we re-rigged for the larger bait. We were seeing most of our hits drifting on the bottom, so we adjusted to favor that too. That did the trick. We immediately got hit by several cats.

After another hour, things slowed and we decided they had moved, so we needed to as well. We headed over to the mouth of battle creek. We saw a lot of movement in the taller reeds, but no splashing that would accompany a carp orgy. We tossed some bait right next to them and were immediately into the catfish. We continued to catch them consistently this way for another 2 hours. Shrimp worked well, but the baby WB and carp meat were irresistible. Average size was about 21", with the longest being 26.5".

There were some waders getting in on the WB run directly in the inlet. After they left we decided we might as well get in on the action ourselves. We parked our kayaks on a hole they seemed to be grouping in and caught WB and goofed off for another hour. The WB pretty much attacked anything with a hook on it, I didnít even cast or reel after a while. Hook in, fish out. We probably caught 100+ and kept about 30. We made a sport of seeing what random tackle we could get them to take and made some whimsical videos. We called it a day around 5PM and packed up the kayaks and one very full cooler. It was a great day of fishing and fun. Glad to have some good fish in the freezer now too.

Glad you guys could make it and happy you got plenty of tugs. A nice day and plenty of action for all. Also glad the hand-me-down bait put a few more fish on the stringers. I would have just dumped it over the side otherwise.

Let me know when you are ready to put together that new rod.

Will do. I have another project with a deadline demanding my attention right now, but the rod is at the top of the list.

Thanks for the fun report, pictures and video. It sounds like you found them almost everywhere you went.
