Fishing

It's started - 4400 Monday and 4900 yesterday. 4 over lower granite.
Now if it only gets better each day for a couple weeks

yep ive been watching the camera all week. looking good. finally.

Now just keep your fingers crossed that they don't reopen the lower C, or extend the middle C's seasons...

They will and we all know it. they will be like. "Oh look see they are fine we can take more." d-bags.

They will definately have a reopen on their mind, but I dont think it will happen just because I have been reading fishing reports and I am actually worried about the numbers still. This is what I have been reading on fishing reports: Kalama to St Helens was very slow when we actually got some good numbers over Bonn dam the past week. I dont know what it means yet, but it could mean that there arent as many fish as people are thinking. This is what Im thinking.... The fish are stacked in a small stretch of river so even though the numbers are fairly good right now they could drop off very quickly. Another thing that could be going on is that the OR and WA boys just dont know how to catch fish when the river is high!! lol and there are just hundreds of thousands of springers laughing their way up the river... Just what Ive been thinking about. Just read the ifish reports and you guys will see what im talking about. They only caught a lot of fish in the last week of their extension.

I agree im still a little nervous especially after watching the cam off and on today. seems to be a lot slower today. i think there is gonna be a drop off in the count today.

Yeah I just dont see 300,000 fish this year (Im thinking 100,000 if we get lucky)... I think OR and WA are in wonderland to think that there will be.. I wonder if they change the rules and start counting some of the summers for springers so that their estimates look better.

well my buddy and i are sitting here watching now and its like somebody opened the flood gates. there is a huge group of fish moving through right now.

low numbers yesterday. weather was horrible on the coast hopefully that has something to do with it.

Yep and looking worse today.... Havent seen many today... Better turn around quick... Dont have time for the fish to screw around

Looking a lot worse today. River has climbed 3-4 ' with the lousy weather. Hopefully just a temporary lull or we just saw an early flush before the main run.

Everybody better be crossing their fingers that it was just an early push (Well dont know about early, towards the end of april). Come on springers!!!! Please prove me wrong...

Im still a little concerned about the numbers but I think the drop in passage today can be traced to the spike in river flows.

They were spilling 163,000 cfs today with 388,000+ cfs going through. Those are some very big numbers. The river rose 4 feet between yesterday and today and is starting to drop now.

anyone watching the fish cam 2day probably noticed how murky the water was in the windows today. High flows and muddy water=low fish passage.

I would expect another lower river opening until second week in May and thats if the numbers are there.

Lower Granite appears to be trending up.....

The Main Salmon rose 17,200 over night, and dropped 2 degrees. That can shut these early fish down quick...

Bonn Flows are rising agin up to 442,000cfs with 229,000 spill. Little Salmon hit 6000.

Oregon cam is so cloudy all you see is barely a shadow.

I REALLY hope its just really high flows keeping the fish from passing Bonniville, but I gotta admit Im having some doubts since #'s dont seem to be as affected at the other dams all things considered.

I can't wait to get out there and get my feet wet.

FISHING for salmon is fun and has nothing to do with numbers. Having salmon present to actually fish for is very dependent on numbers

I was just joking around a little.

I've caught exactly one salmon in my entire life. A smaller chinook while ice fishing walleyes on the Missouri River this past winter.

It was a fun fight.

numbers started to climb back up yesterday. we will see soon. Im not expecting much though. It just seems pretty bleak.

Numbers in the hundreds/day aint going to get us there, we need numbers in the 6-10,000 range or higher

Hopefully with the water dropping and clearing it will pick up. We will know soon enough.

Lets hope that the water on the Big C stays high and muddy while our fish blow through...
