GAS
I am not sure how many of you are aware of this or if you even have 7-11's in your state, but there are other stations to be aware of:
NEWS FLASH!!!
CITGO CHANGING NAME
American Boycott of Citgo is working. (Must Read This) Remember
Chavez owns Citgo, we can put him out of business. Send this on no matter what.
Chavez is NOW getting a Russian Weapons Factory built by Putin.
The RUSSIANS are building an AK-47 Kalashnikov Assault Rifle factory in Venezuela, to give armament support to Communist Rebel groups throughout the Americas
Chavez NOW has IRANIANS operating his oil refineries in Venezuela for
him.
It is likely only a matter of time, if not already, before Chavez has Iranian built
LONG RANGE missiles, with a variety of warhead types aimed at:
Guess Who?
CITGO is NOW in the process of Changing Its Name to PETRO EXPRESS due to the loss of gasoline sales in the USA due to the recent publicity of ownership by Chavez of Venezuela.
Every dollar you spend with CITGO or PETRO EXPRESS gasoline will be used against you, your basic human rights, and your freedoms. He will start wars here in the Americas that will probably be the death of millions of free people.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT because Chavez is starting to feel the loss of revenue from his holdings.
HE OWNS CITGO. This is a very important move that everyone should be aware of.
ANNOUNCED JUST RECENTLY, CITGO, BEING AWARE THAT SALES ARE DOWN DUE TO U.S. CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO BUY FROM "CITGO-CHAVEZ", HAVE STARTED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SOME OF THEIR STORES TO: "PETRO EXPRESS"
DO NOT BUY FROM "PETRO EXPRESS" EITHER!!!
"PETRO EXPRESS" IS ALSO 100% OWNED BY "CHAVEZ."
KEEP THIS MEMO GOING SO THAT EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING.
BOYCOTT "CITGO" AND "PETRO EXPRESS"............
MAKE SURE THIS IS PASSED ON TO EVERYONE ON YOUR E-MAIL LIST IN THE UNITED STATES. "IN GOD WE TRUST".

I don't buy that the money goes anywhere else but Chavez's pocket. As far as Bush, he is our President and for that I will be closed lipped, but he is also all about OIL for himself.

CoolHey MacFky55 JoAnne, Michaels & Tall Mouse to name a few sell material at a very reasonable price that fly tyers like yourself should now find on your weekly places to shop. LOL. Yea I don't agree with everything that president Bush is advocating. But oil for himself? Please! What American is going to give up driving even if gas hits $10.00/gal. And I thought 35¢ / gal was high. Yea right.

I do think gw has a vested interest in oil..to much big money in TX for to not be...

now as far as driving no matter what.. Id say you are right.. but Id also say that is because to live you have to work.. to work you have to get to the job.. that means drive... or public.. in my case its 50 miles one way.. 100 round trip a day.. was the onlly job I could get when I got out of the Navy.. and similar type jobs are simply not available closer in my area (ppl just aint givin em up)..so for now I have to have the car.. but.. I have a prius in mind.. 50 mpg.... only true hybrid ... that means id drive for 5 days without filling up..as it is.. I fill up every other day...

Probably then we will see real car pooling take effect. What gets me is seeing big construction trucks etc driving in the car pool lanes. Technically they are suspose to drive no faster than 55mph. That's how fast people in SoCal drive into their garages.Tongue

DR....dont get us started on the big trucks and tour buses from down south .. coupled with the beat up old Chevy pick ups with railing on the roof and down the side... that get loaded up with tires.. mattresses.. kitchen appliances... all tied down with old laundry line rope.. alll swaying side to side as they go "home".... I know I read somewhere that loads above the cab were illegal in most cases and in the few where it is legal they are suppose to be covered with a tarp or a net...

thank you to the poloticians who pushed through NAFTA.. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright Macfly. Did you figure out where to get a good deal on fly tying stuff now???
t
The thread is good. The lead wire is good. The feathers, keep an eye on. Sometimes they have some nice Mallard and Peacock.

Foam blocks to hold your little tying tools, they have a mega supply of. Foam wrap for your expensive tools (so they don't sink when you drop them in the water) yards and yards of the stuff.

Eye balls, craft glue, glitter and mylar. Thin foam for "Hoppers" and wood plugs for "Poppers"

They actually think that only little old ladies will shop in Jo Ann's for their weekly quilting class or to get knitting supplies for their new great grand child.

Phoooooooeeeey!!!

Jo Ann's is for the FF angler. All the other old turds in there are only there because they made a wrong turn in Westchestertonfieldville.Crazy

Not just the hobby stores Mac. We were driving to Idaho a few years ago and off the side of the road (a place we could not pull over) was a beautigul RED FOX (road Kill). The tail was untouched and I would have loved to pull over and grab it. I even carry a large zip lock bag and rubber gloves on occassion.
Road kill will be in a whole new light!
Plus I find bugs, catch them and ask Mojo to take a look. Ask me this ten years ago and I would have laughed, but now it is cool to see what they look like and try to copy it.

Those come out just right if you keep your microwave in the 700 to 1000watt range.

If you go to big, then you will have trouble finding space for the refrigerator. You need to give the refrigerator ample room or it interferes with the Satellite dish.

Planning is important. After all, it is a float tube.Wink

ya want to hear a funny?

I remember when hillery went after nixon for the oil embargo and illegal campane funding at the watergate hotel,

today when the oil embargoing is the highest it has ever been hillery is looking the other way, "dont ask dont tell" is a two way street, makes me wonder what she has planned....

the fact that she is not going after bush raises cause for alarm....

In times like this I am reminded by a saying of a mentor many years ago, "beleive only half of what you hear and only a third of what you see, things are not always what they seem to be"....

CoolHey MacFly55 - the brass beads that Michael's sell have the same diameter hole through out. I prefer those that are smaller at one end. In fact my fly shop only sells the latter.

What Dry Rod is telling you is you can certainly use regular bead for flies (specially the scud ones with a bead body).
But for fly heads, FLY BEADS are small on one end (the end that goes next to the eye of the hook) and on larger hole on the other side (so you can tuck the final thread wraps under the bead).
So, unfortunately, we still have to buy the real or should I say REEL thing at times.

You can still wrap a thicker under layer and use those beads just fine. I have a problem finding beads that fit the saltwater hooks as it is but when I use the smaller hooks, I just put a little thicker under wrap to start.Cool

I would strongly recommend that you buy the best material available. Way back when, there were very few sources of quality material available and I tied hundreds of flies that looked like crap.

When I found a good source for material, the quality of my flies changed a bunch. You can't get the proportions right with cheap material.

There are a few items that can be acquired from craft shops, like foam, adhesives, paints, etc. If you check with tiers that sell their flies, and produce a good product, you will find that they don't visit chicken farms, picking up feathers.

It's a mistake to try to go cheap.

The difference between a good fly and a poor one is quality of materials.
