Freshwater / Saltwater depending on size
ICAST 2002 Best New Lure Category Winner! The Megabait Charlie Swimbait combines the best attributes of soft-plastic and hard-plastic lures. Soft plastic on the outside gives it the look and feel of a real baitfish. Multiple slits on the tail produce a swimming action that will fool a wide variety of freshwater and inshore saltwater game fish. Great for the Freshwater and Inshore fisherman! A hollow hard-plastic body under the soft plastic contains tungsten ball bearings for added casting distance, balance and fish attracting sounds. Distinguishing characteristic is its' ability to suspend and swim. Suspends in Freshwater Floats in Saltwater

WinkTongueCoolSlyI would appreciate a chance to try out your new lure. I live in central California and the fishing here is tuff if your lure needs to be tried and proven this is the place to do it. I would like to try it out this summer in the Sierras on my camping trip for Rainbow trout and locally for the some of the large mouth Bass we have in the area. Hope to here back from you soon.

I enjoy trying new lures, especially those designed for salt and freshwater(most will work for salt and freshwater species in the right circumstances, small blacktip sharks can't resist a ratt-l-trap trolled past them). I also like being the first one around with a new lure, especially if it produces. I live in Bainbridge, Ga, less than ten minutes from Lake Seminole, and try to take my daughters fishing at least once a week. I'm about two hours from the Gulf of Mexico and usually get down there to fish about once a month, usually in St. Joe's Bay or St. Andrews Bay(FL), so I would have the opportunity to try it in both environments.

I go fishing anytime I am not at work and would love to have something new and different to throw at them. Please consider me for this testing, I will give the lure a good solid testing.

I live in northern Utah in close proximity to several lakes with excellent LM bass, SM bass, tiger musky, wiper, walleye, and trout fishing. Testing this lure would be informative to see fish reaction in our fairly clear waters. Fish aggression, lure toughness, and lure versatility are some of the things I would report on. thanks for reveiwing this application.

I would like the oppurtunity to test this bait for largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass in a variety of water conditions. I fish lakes with clear, stained, and dingy water. The lakes I fish have structure that includes boat docks, deep trees, bluffs, brush piles, bridge pilings and other structures both natural and man made.

The conditions that I have access to will give a fair accounting of how the bait will perform under field conditions.

Thank you.

I am a new resident in spitting distance to the Russian River, CA (5 miles from the ocean). My fishing success has been less then stellar, partially because of the no live bait law starting in april 1st to Oct. I have a picture perfect fishing spot with deep water, a flowing creek, and rocky shallows point but need that right lure to attract the fish that the ospreys, otters and Seal (who follow the schools of steelhead, salmon and shad up the river) so easily catch and show off. Plenty of trout, salmon, shad and a few smallmouths to go around for all us fisherman in that river, it would be nice to show the wildlife for once:)

If it's action is as good as its looks are in a photo, I believe this lure could bait a lot of customers away from Rapala's ShadRap series lures.

In early spring, after ice-out in Northern Ontario and before the Black Flies hatch, Speckled Trout (Brookies) tend to gorge on Minnows in the most shallow of waters. I've worked a lake hard before it would turn over, exhausting all technique and nearly all tackle until learning to skip the shore line. With a lure similar to the one presented I would cast onto shore, or in inches of water, add a few twitches of the rod to avoid snags and then a slow retreat. This brought in a 5lb. Speck for me last spring in less than 12 inches of water!. Speckled Trout can be very particular when biting. Live bait does work best so texture can play a big part in the effectiveness of lures. Regarding the suspension of this lure in Fresh Water; this could be a killer feature. I've had countless hits when I've stalled a retreat, suspension would be more natural versus sinking and flotation.

Let us know how this lure works, if I don't get the opportunity to run with it first.Smile

By living in sunny Southern California I have access to numerous fresh and saltwater playgrounds. I have access to private lakes that very few people take the time to fish. I've manage to pull 10 Largemouth Bass out of one very small catch pond in 45 minutes with a small Trout spinner. Every day off I have is spent fishing and teaching my 3 year old daughter how it fish. Testing this item would give me another reason to get out there and fish my heart out ! Choose me and you'll know how they fish freshwater from shore and boat and saltwater from shore and off shore as well. The season is just getting under way here and there's fish to be had!!!

This lure looks like it could go both ways--freshwater and saltwater! In my area--Southern California--it looks like it would be great for trolling for striped bass in freshwater, and in saltwater, I think the calico bass would take numbers to jump all over this lure. In other words, count me in as a tester!Cool

I HAVE TRIED A VARIETY OF SWIMBAITS WITH MODERATE SUCCESS. I'VE THROWN EVERYTHING FROM MAGNUM TORA TUBES TO BIG TROUT BAITS. WHAT REALLY MAKE THIS PRODUCT UNIQUE IS THE SLITS IN THE BODY ALONG THE TAIL SECTION. I THINK IT GIVES IT A BETTER LIFELIKE ACTION THAN ALL THE REST THAT ARE OUT ON THE MARKET. Wink I would really like to try out this new lure. We have a lot of lakes in Minnesota (land of 10,000 lakes) and every weekend my husband & I go out fishing on many of the different lakes around. We really like testing out new things to determine the duds from the studs. I would really like the opportunity to test this lure out and report all of our findings (good or bad) for the outcome on using it on different types of lakes & fish. I really think the fish will go wild over this! I can't wait to try it out!! Cool

All season Freshwater Fishing is my hobby and I have just retired and will be chasing fish full time. I live in Montana and fish for all types of fish. Here in northwest Montana our lakes are extremely clear and requires lots of finesse to catch the Largemouth Bass. I would like to give one of these a go. I will give a clear and concise report (along with digital pictures if you like!) on my findings with this lure or anything else that you might like me to test. I fish for Bass, Perch, Trout, Pike, and Lake Trout and own a Bass boat.

Well, everyone I'd be more than happy to give you the results of my testing the Charlie Suspended Swimbait, but I have yet to get it. Today's date is July 8, 2003 and I myself am getting a bit jittery to fish it! I've fished the original Charlies with pretty good sucess with the Baby Bass color scheme (gold and black), but I'd like to see how the Suspended Charlie differs in action and reaction, not to mention if it catches more fish! Hopefully, the bait will arrive soon. They said approximately 3-3 1/2 weeks for delivery, but its been 5 weeks! One fishing trip planned for it has already passed and I have to stick to my standard Rattle Traps, homemade flies and lures to fish. Anyway, as soon as the bait's received it will be fished and hopefully soon great photos and fish will be taken. Here's to hoping.

Okay!!! Finally, I have received the Charlie Supended Swimbait! The packaging is low-key, functional and reusable. The packaging doesn't mess with any of the flashy graphics that some companies use that actually seem to turn me away from them. I received the 6.5 inch, 2 oz. Charlie. The packaging states the Diving Depth as 18-24 feet and will Suspend in freshwater and Float in salt. The coloring of the lure depending on the angle of which you look at it could pass as a Baby Bass with the Black/Yellow along the upper body or Rainbow Trout with the opal, pink and speckled coloring along the sides. From the bottom looking up (belly) it is white.opal. But it is a 'Small Trout'. Which should work well for almost anything in the waters I fish. Just so I would know what kind of action I was going to be 'playing' with I went and tossed it in a pond (that wasn't stocked unfortunately) just to see how the bait moved through the water. And I'll have to say I'm impressed! I have yet to find a Swimbait that can mimic a fish as well as the Charlie. Between the use of hard & soft plastics, bearings, hologram coloring, life-like eyes, rattle and the movement this Swimbait has all the makings of an excellent attractor! Well, tomorrow is Friday and there are fish to be had! I'll be tossing in freshwater ponds and lakes tomorrow and then saltwater either Saturday or next Friday. I'll be back with an update real soon and hopefully some nice pictures of great fish!

Hey All! I've sent davetheclown my report with photos because...heehee...I can't figure out how to attach the photos to the post. Sorry! Hopefully, he can get the photos to open. Other wise if he can't and anyone is interested in seeing the photos just email me at Sassiebrat13@aol.com and I'll be happy to share them! The swimbait by the way is far better than I expected! It drived fish crazy! If dave doesn't publish the report I will rewrite it here on the board in a few days!

I couldn't figure out how to attach these photos to my post without seeing nothing but a red 'X', so I'm sending my test results to you. I hope this is okay.

HEY ALL!!! This Charlie Suspended Swimbait is AWESOME!!! Can you guess which Bass was taken on the Charlie and which was taken on a crawdad popper?!

A few days later at the same lake I was going to try some night time bass fishing while catfishing as well. I figured it would be the perfect thing to do while waiting for my rod to bend with a fat cat. Little did I realize the effect just dangling the Charlie in about 3 inches of water would have while setting up my catfish rig. I was nearly ready the cast my line out when my 'Charlie' pole was nearly yanked over the side of the dock! I thought I had bumped it but boy was I ever wrong! I fought was I thought was a HUGE bass, but was I ever surprised to find a lunker catfish surface with my Charlie in its mouth. I have NEVER had a catfish hit a swimbait, let alone one that was just sitting on the surface waiting to be cast out! After 49 minutes of pulling this 'rock' this way and that, I got him! A gorgeous 18.5 pound beauty! My husband couldn't believe it and neither could my other friends there. I knew the Charlie would definitely catch fish, but I figured Bass would be the main target. I never expected a catfish to hit it. The only 2 slight downfalls or quirks about the Charlie I've noticed is after a number or strikes or fish taken the paint work starts to peel a bit, not a big deal though because the makes also infused color into the plastic its self. The other is you should NOT cast it on anything lighter than 15 lb test. And not the cheap stuff either. You buy cheap line you might as well just dump your tackle box in the water because you're going to loose your gear. But these 2 small little things are nothing when you see how much action you can produce with this swimbait. The smallest flick of you wrist can cause a flurry of strikes. I know have a new best friend...My Charlie. Go get one where ever you can and try it for yourself. You'll love it!
