Anyone heard anything about tagged fish in rockport res this year?

Yes. If you catch a tagged fish, you can take it to the convenience store for a prize. The contest runs through sometime in March.

Skunked, we never get skunked its the fish getting skunked as they just kept missing our lures.

Has any one heard how many fish were tagged? That is the first I had heard of the the fish being tagged for prizes in rockport.

I have not heard of any turned in as of yet. I have fished it a few days now since the start of the contest. I am on my way out here in a few to see what I cant wrestle to the deck.

Heard two tagged fish were caught on Jan 2nd. Can't confirm, just hearsay from a co-worker that was up there that day. He heard one tag was for a generator and was unsure what the other prize was. Again just hearsay........

After reading the rules on it. it looks like there is no age on redeeming prizes so if my 7 year old caught one he would be redeeming the prize. is that right? I know i dont have a chance, but for some reason the luck my boy has he wouldn't pull out anything but tagged fish.

Had a buddy of mine catch a fish that had a tag in it but some how the tag fell off. He took it in and unfortunatly he couldn't get a prize cuz the tag was gone. Anyways they told him the prizes depend on what tag number they have, so the prizes aren't given out in any specific order. They did say a couple if the prizes were 2500$, a gas auger, generator. Oh and the fish that he caught was a lil 14 inch scrapper.

I talked with Rafter B today and they told me there has not been any tagged fish turned in yet.

Then how does he know it was tagged?doh

There was a big hole by it's dorsal fin, the same spot they normally tag fish, oh and it was confermed by the people checking the fish

ive known about the tournament now for about 2 weeks just waiting for someone to say something lol... ya the cats out of the bag now. ill meet all you anglers up there this weekend. you will probally see me at the store collecting my money but at least you will see me ha ha ha... good luck to everybody up there fishing, i know you better get there early or the parking will be limited... its going to be tent city this weekend for sure.

It took over 6 weeks for a legitimate tagged fish to be turned in.

First tagged fish was caught on 02/17/2012. 17.5" Rainbow, by me.

As of 02/24/2012 a second has been turned in.

$2500.00 fish is STILL in the lake - go get it !!!

Welcome to the site TagThis and congratulations on catching the first tagged fish at Rockport. I thought the contest for the tagged fish at Rockport started on the 1st of Jan? Thanks for the update on the contest.

Correct, it was scheduled to run for 60 days, ending March 1st at 5:00pm (tomorrow). There has been constant chatter about extending, but nothing official.

I heard the same thing about it being extended. Considering only two fish were caught, you would think another two weeks would not be a big deal. I guess if they are going to announce it is going to be extended they would have done it by now.

even if they did extend it, it would be surprising if anyone still got one, 40 fish in a lake with tens of thousands of trout. i think some might have died too. go get em guys

Agreed, another reason they should extend it, at least one more weekend.

They sure had a great turnout for the tagged fish,everytime we went up there it was packed.
Sulpher creek derby is alot of fun and well organized you might want to try it next year.
Be careful on the thin ice to come in the future weeks not worth going in for a FISH !!

My Dad caught a tagged fish this past week and turned it in. He got $150 towards horseback riding. He will be getting some extra points from my Mom because she loves horses. He was sure hoping it was for the $2500 though.

Way to go on the tagged fish. Always nice to score points with the ladies. Be careful and have fun in the fresh air!!
