Heading to Deer Creek on May 22. Tips?
I've never been to Deer Creek. Don't know where to go once there or what tackle to use. I will have the raft, but if it gets windy I will fish from shore. We will be there three days.

Education is important but fishing is importanter.

Trout or smallmouths. I just want a fish after getting skunked the last time I went fishing. We are staying at a place called Chokecherry.

Hi Steelhawk,

We've had great luck trolling with flies, jakes and spinners for trout this spring.

I haven't taken one of my morning bass trips yet but casting a senko anywhere near a rocky shoreline is a lot of fun.

Casting Pop-R's at first light or after sundown until dark is also very fun if the water temp is over 60.

Give a man a fish and he's fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend his life squinting at invisible thread.

Yes the smallmouth have started biting. When I was down there last week the water temp was 62 when I left in the afternoon.

If you want to fish from your raft you can fish almost anywhere in the mornings but as the afternoon wears on you can fish in the Wallsberg arm without the waves getting to bad. Also this time of year the trout fishing can be good out in deeper water.

Good luck on your trip.

Well, I guess it's time to tackle-up and use that gift certificate from Angler's Den.
