Huge expenditures of Tax payer dollars to replace a naturally reproducing apex predator with a sterile replica makes little sense to me.
Minimum sustainable pool levels are necessary to support any Grand Plan program at Yuba and the Sevier drainage. Only Northern Pike and Carp have historically prospered. Water management is more critical than what the planting truck offers up to a dry pond.

Of course it makes little sense to you. You think that the Northern Pike are doing so well that a 20 fish limit doesn't seem to impact their numbers. No one is catching 20 pike in a day at Yuba. Most people won't catch 20 in a season. Their population is completely out of whack with the prey base, and planting Yellow Perch and Walleye is futile at this point.

The main thing they need to do is drain Yuba like it was last year put structure in there so the perch have a chace to reproduce. Yuba is a desert under water nowhere for bait fish to hide and grow and become spawners. Right now the main forage at Yuba are carp for those predators that make it big enough to eat them and not to become prey themselves. That big eye soar of a wall they built by the ramp is useless they wasted money building it when it could have done some good just putting it in the lake. So it works only when there is a south wind otherwise that wall is useless . Well it does hold a few fish lol

It would be nice to see some serious structure put in the places that always hold viable water in that pond. It could be an awesome fishery. We usually go down camping in the spring and fall.

In my opinion I believe that when the Northern pike got illegally planted into Utah lake and were able to establish a population that was the beginning of the end to Northern Pike in Utah. And that the DWR veiws leaving Northen Pike in Yuba as too much of a risk of illegal introductions in the future. I think we will only see steril Tigermuskys going forward.

There could be some truth to that.

I would say that is completely possible. And it is to bad, I have managed a few out of there nothing big and all were from the beach but they are a fun fish to catch, and I thought they were not bad for the table either.
