Reel FASTER! Newton Action
The grandkids decided they like one on one time at the grandparents – if all the cousins aren’t there. That way when it’s not a cousin mob scene, they don’t have to compete or share or compromise or argue with siblings. Carter decided he wanted to go overnight camping and fishing during his special time.
We took the little row boat to Newton Reservoir to try our luck.
It was windy and the fish were not biting Friday night but the swimming was good.
Saturday morning – early – a fish took Carter’s night crawler and went on a frenzied little swim. There was some frantic underwater action and then his line was calm, snagged in some submerged bushes.
We were able to gently coax it out to find... what happens when a Tiger Musky thinks your catfish is breakfast.
Carter had several questions about the eating habits of Tiger Muskies and piranhas as he ventured out into the lake with his swimming trunks and flip flops in the heat of the afternoon.
We caught perch, bluegill, large mouth bass, and half a catfish.
Carter kept reminding grandpa on the way home that he out fished him by one-and-a-half fish.

What an awesome trip. I wonder if you could get a citation for using live game fish as bait while "fishing for tiger Muskie". I bet the g-kids had a blast. Thanks for posting.

Looks like you had a great trip. I'm from the Ogden area and have never fished Newton
Any suggestions on where to put a toon in the water if I can make it up there one day?

Haha, gross Laugh I guess at least one big tiger survived the draw downs. I knew they put channel cats in there, but I'm surprised to see a bullhead. Probably for the best that the musky ate it.
