Twin Lake Res. Private?$$$$$
I asked my brother if he wanted to chase bluegill at Twin Lakes Reservoir, Idaho. We fished there often as kids in the 60's. He got a license and we headed off. When we got the lake there was a bunch of signs: private, pay fee, $5, camping $25.
So we pay our $5 and head towards the ramp. 100 ft. before the ramp is a "invasive species check station and charged another $15, even though I just went though one at Franklin.
Wow! when did they go private? I haven't been there since 1992. This will be the last time I go there. Their fish are too expensive.

Please tell me that this is "fake news". I know that the canal company owned the lake, but it was always public for as long as I can remember.

With the mussel scare going on more and more of those little bodies of water are cracking down on who launches there if they let people launch at all.

I loved Twin Lakes, but refuse to let the ditch boss hold me hostage. I won't fish it in the summer, but spend lots of time Jenkins their bluegills through the ice.

Glendale just north of Preston has a check station as well. A friend and I launched my grandpas boat there a couple weeks ago and it cost us $20. Kinda sucked but we were one of maybe six boats on the whole lake with only 1 or 2 ski boats.

Sad news, I used to love that lake, but they have chased me away, that's why I'm not buying a season in Idaho... Thanks for report, now I know not to try it. Later J

It was a jaw dropping amount to pay for an evening in the wind. We did end up with 5 nice bluegills, a few small ones, and a half dozen yellow perch that have been vacuum packed for sturgeon bait. It would probably be good fishing as it always has been in the past. Just not in my budget.
