Mud bugs at Strawberry help?
I am heading up to get some bugs with my FIL for a boil this weekend. And was wondering when the best time and where is the best place. Usually I take my kids so we just go over on the docks, but they do not want to come this time so we are very open to the when and the where. It will be form shore. The boil is planned for Sunday.

Thanks Matt

Usually, back from the Soldier Creek docks is pretty good. Just throw a turkey leg out and they will come. Are you just breaking off the tails and icing them?
If you are doing the whole bug, You need to boil them onsite as you can't transport them?

we were there last weekend and filled 3 5 gal buckets in 3 hours. We hit the rocky shoreline in soldier creek . Take the road to the left off the dam road, go over to the parking area and hit the rocky shore below the parking lot

People seem to look at traps and think of them full of crawdads, and that seems to sell them I guess. At Strawberry I think you're better served finding a place with a lot of bugs and just pulling them in with chicken legs on a string. Don't forget you can throw out 5 legs per person. Traps are more for places in other states with big bugs that are few and far between, and then you leave the traps all day or all night. Get a pack of chicken legs and a spool of twine, trust us. You find a place with a lot of bugs walking around and start throwing out legs and they'll be walking away in 10 minutes if you don't watch em. Pro tip: every once in a while put the chicken leg on a rock and step on it a little to squish some juices out.

    I agree
We out out traps , but almost more of an attractant. Then all the grandkids use a chicken leg and cheap butterfly nets we get at the dollar store. the chicken leg and nets easily does better . we generally get 5 to 1 better results with the legs , pulling in 4to5 on a leg many times
