Need some berry advice please....
Havenít made it up this year, thinking of running up Thursday after work and fish the evening, just not sure where to go, marina, chicken creek, mud creek, ladders? Anyone with good info. I could use a point, shoot me a pm if need be, thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, most of the reports I heard over the weekend werenít that great. My son and I went over to Renegade and did okay catching 11 in three hours.

Bait selection was the key to our success. Start with white and tip with shrimp meat. We did better with smaller chunks of meat. Other standard baits like meal worms and night crawlers didnít seem to work.

Did you go over the ice to Renegade or did you follow the road?

We took the road. The ice isnít thick enough yet for me to make that daring of a trek.

We were at the northern part of Soldier Creek on Saturday. Fishing was slow in 30 feet of water. We managed 5 cutthroats on the line in the time we were there (about 5 hours).

I've heard better fishing is happening in 20 feet of water, but I'm not sure where on the lake to go.

We weren't at the marina. We went past that and took the turn off towards the dam, but stopped in a small bay on the North end.

I'm eager to hear where others will say to go too. I'd like to go back up this weekend.

Thanks, I would like to go out from marina and hunt for kokes.
What day are you going back up? In going up Wednesday. How much snow is there now? Watch for me .

Remo, location hasn't been as important as timing. We caught about 25 on Saturday between 3 of us near Jakes Bay. Bite was good from 7-8:30 then it was dead till about 11:30 to 12:30. Again died till about 3pm and started to pick up again. We caught them on a variety of lures so again I think just grinding out till they start feeding is more important than some special lure or location. Good Luck Sir

We fished the marina on Sunday, 1/21 from 9:00 - 2:00 and missed the morning bite (we had a group of youngsters that took extra time to dress and get rigged).

We were marking fish just off the bottom (30-40 ft) or around 20-25 ft of water.

We had a lot of lookers and nudges for the first hour then it died off.

Ice was 4-6" total with 4 being solid clear and the top 2 being white.

Most people were setting tent and camping out rather than moving. The typical Strawberry wind was blowing as always which meant extra time to set and stake down tents. I am glad we had the accessory that allows you to drill your ice stakes down.

We were using typical flashers (Swedish Pimple, Kastmaster, etc) with various colors of Cutter bugs and other plastics. We only had wax worms. Attractant didn't seem to make a difference.

While we were mostly sitting and untangling the kids, we managed a few cutts which we promptly released.
