Bird island
I made a quick trip out to the island at 4pm and the water temp was 54 degrees. I had my 7 year old with me and we posted up in one spot and had nothing after 20 minutes so we moved and within 5 minutes of the new spot there were fish all over the finder. We hurried and our lines out and he got one within 5 minutes. It wasnít a monster, it was 24" and about 2 lbs but for 7 yr old he was stoked. We didnít get anything but rock monsters after that but we left at 510pm.

Good job for a quick trip! Did that 24" have scales and big teeth or whiskers?

It had whiskers. I wished it was a walleye. I posted its pic under tyfighter in the contest as it was my son. Iím still fishless for the year. It was his second time out. I guess it pays to fish less....nah

That's great taking your son! He will have a blast once the water temp hits about 60 degrees!

Usually around the is land its better hang it off a bobber, I have donated alot of tackle to those rock monsters out here, caught a few, gets you exited for a second, they will swim back and forth.

Glad to hear you are getting out with your son...and that at least there is ONE good fisherman in the family.

Lotsa "rock monsters" around Bird Island. Here is a picture of a "rock flounder" caught by Utahwalleye, who has since relocated to Colorado.

Also including a pic of a unique fish I caught at Deer Creek a few years ago. As you can see, I reeled it in so slowly that it died and decomposed on the way in.

I know you're good at filleting, TD, but you sure got everything off of that one.

HEY !! That was my fish and line I lost ! Now I know why. Fish wrapped itself around an old tree branch, broke my line off, the was stuck and a bigger eye came along and made a meal. WinkWinkSlyFish On
