$100,000.00 bounty
The U.S. government is offering $100,000.00 to anyone that can stop the invasive quagga and zebra mussels.

OK, all you mad scientist get out your chemistry set and go to work. Maybe it might take a new virus introduced to a small population of mussels to kill em ? And I bet they would pay millions if you found a real cure.

The biggest problem I see is the DWR would never let a bunch of nobel prize wannabees, get anywhere near the live mussels at home to do there tests.

Still, a good idea....and odd that they'd put any cut-off date on a problem this serious....unless they've already found the solution....Wait a minute -- how about a "Mussel Tournament" ... "tag" a few hundred of them, each with some $ value, then get people scuba or snorkel diving again....musselmen (or musselwomen) could scrape up hundreds or more per dive ---- yeah, I think a tournament could win me that $ 100 G.....

" officials estimate it will cost $500 million annually to prevent the mussels from clogging pipes and infrastructure. "
If anything the real bounty to come up with a way to defeat the mussels will be worth millions.
