good day at Strawberry
I was not going to post but this may help some one
the wife and I had a day that some people only dream about
first thing I did not hit a deer
last time I went to strawberry I hit a deer so I went out and bought a new 2018 chevy truck

two are three boats beet us there one I think was brookie the wife saw him I was in the bathroom (it is open) I told my wife we need to start getting up earlier.

we were in fog most of the time
started out by catching 7 cuts no kokes so moved
then for over two hr we had a fish on all the time I use 4 down riggers
3 different times we had all four poles in with fish on

maybe every one else fishing did good today also
this is what I did and I will show you two setups
four downriggers were between 25 and 13 feet down
the deep ones 25 and 22 I had a 30 and 40' set back front riggers
the other two 13 and 15 I had a 80' set back back riggers

speed I have a I- troll that changes speed from 1.2 to 2 mph avg speed about 1.6 mph

once I found the fish I set a rout with my minn kota link and just puled fish in.

the set ups has a lot of glow in the dark on them I took this picture in the sun
which we did not see a lot of today
the one 5.5'" sling blade has two glow in the dark paint coats the bottom coat is one color, the top coat is pink and it goes all the way down but you cant see it.
the spinner blades on the squids were all the same glow in the dark and glow in the dark squids. I charge them with a uv light.
I dream this stuff up in the winter.
3 kokes were 19" two were 18"

Great report Robert. Even better that it happened while fishing with your wife.

Great report and I like those riggings... Sounds like a great day, congrats and the same on the new truck... Did you total the last one, or just time for a new truck anyway? Those deer can be sneaky when it comes to jumping in front of you... Got one at 75 mph with my first truck an old Ford F-150 and it wrapped the bumper and fender around my front wheel, put a quick stop to that trip... Anyway thanks for a great detailed report... Wish I had more time, I'd sure like to fish with you someday, you are a master at that game, thanks for sharing what you have learned... Jeff

by the time I hit the deer I was down to about 15 mph only about $600 of damage
my other truck was a 2004 so it was time for a new one

Good deal then and happy new truck!!! I need a replacement for my 2003 but not ready to buy one just yet. Like to get a new one before I retire so I'd like to not have too much for payments hopefully my current truck will carry me until I can save up some for a replacement. Congrats. J

I was there as well. I was there early because I only have to come from Loop F in the campground. The wife was there but she stayed in camp when she saw the fog. The marina was fairly clear but the lake was socked in.

I entered the fog bank as I passed mosquito bay and was lost from there. The gps kept me from hitting shore and luck from hitting another boat. It was kind of scary. I found a different set of fish because I had them on very regular, but they were smaller. Turned several back for size. I was back in at 0730 with my 4.

Got 1 larger and lost a couple larger ones at the boat when we went back out - after the fog lifted.

I used one dodger that looked exactly like the one in your second picture. The other was the pink moonshine. Didn't change lures all day. Did have to change out a reel that stopped working.

Great day and fast fishing.

Looks like a great day on the lake! Thanks for the report! I am itching to get out to either Strawberry or the Gorge. I need to make some time for a trip or two! Seems like you either need to choose Hunting/scouting or boat fishing...

It was kind of scary, I did see two boats
there was no way you could fish without a gps map.
I would never go out on a saturday in stuff like that
I had no Idea where I was at, good thing I have the old tracks on the map so I can go back
I'm taking some one from BFT friday we may have a bad day, that happens sometimes when you want to show some one a good time.

glad that dodger is working for you. it is hard to match
early in the year at SC I had a good day in the fog and clouds (no sun) with that glow stuff.

I always read your posts as I've gleaned so much good information from them. And have really appreciated your private messages to help me out. Someday soon I hope to get downriggers to better emulate what you're doing. Thanks for choosing to post it.

I've fished the mouth of the Columbia river in the fog. It's odd and scary to be sitting in what seems like calm still water, with the motor off, and be going 10mph.

one of those boats was mine.I was with my wife and have no gps,i got lost and was fishing blind, lol.I looked on my phone at google maps and trolled my way back toward the marina. The fog lifted i got my bearings, and i got 7 in a hour or so and then wind picked,my wife is spooky abd between the fog and potential wind she had had enough.I slept in my van at the marina and no fog reported on the weather channel so i thought just minor morning fog so we went out.We talked to brookie in the morning and his wife was sitting it out for a while, very wise.lol I was right by your boat about 930 or 10 am and was going to follow you,but i got my bearings and wanted to fish a spot.I learned dont go out in the fog and that google maps can help you if you are lost in any way.
