I do not have a k-drill. I have a lazer that came off of a Strikemaster Electra Lazer. The holes when lapped are uniform from top to bottom. I’m sure if the ice is thicker then 10” it would be harder to control the accuracy.

Cool I have a laser 8" that I'll have to try out this year. Do you do two or 3 holes together? I may end up selling my 10" after all. Hate to sell it so soon though, but it is sure a lot bigger than my electric augers. Later J

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff,

Get rid of everything you've got and buy the K-Drill. It comes in 6" & 8" ($190 to $240) and you can get a factory reconditioned 6" directly from K-Drill for $150. It's the ONLY auger you're ever going to need. With overlapping the holes in a clover leaf pattern, there isn't a fish in Utah you can't bring up through the ice. And don't forget, K-Drill comes with a lifetime, free (except for the postage to get it to them) blade sharpening service. Sent mine in after the season last year and had them back in a couple of weeks. Wink

Got my new drill on the way today. It's the 2804-22 kit with 2 batteries and a charger for $210. So I paid a little more but it is a new one. As far as a new auger that's maybe next year if I don't like my current ones. Which I love the Nils 6" and with more torque I think the laser 8" will be fine also. And for big fish I'll keep the gasser for now. So I'm getting there slowly. Later J

I drill three holes after seeing fish on the sonar. No fish no more holes. Move on till I find them. At Fish Lake I usually start my search in 80-90’ of water. Last season sucked because ice conditions were less than perfect. Didn’t want risk losing my side by side or my life! Hopefully this maaay-be a better season.

I follow a similar path using the 6" Nils and single holes while I'm prospecting and then I pull out the big ones when I'm on fish. I'm with you hoping for better ice this year. Last year was a really short and never good ice season to where you felt completely safe. I was nervous the few times I took the snowmobile on the ice. Hope it will be safe this year. Later Jeff

You don't have to beg -- your 2704-20 drill is considered to be Industrial Strength, according to your own Milwaukee technical staff....I'm sure you are happy with yours....As there is always a lot of interest in purchasing new augers this time of year, and especially now the cordless drill/battery powered ones, I am simply pointing out to those new purchasers, that drills labeled as "Compact" will not get the job done....often those are sold at a very desirable price point, especially this time of year, for the Christmas gift crowd....they work great around the home, but not so much out on the ice....Get Industrial Strength power/batteries, and you will be a happy driller of ice holes...Guluk...
