Ozzie was one of the four guys, all from the Price area, that went to help on the hunt. My stepson was with them also. It's a small world sometime isn't it.

I hope you are able to have some success after waiting for so long to draw your tag.

It is a small world because Ozzie actually went to school in the same small town as I did in southern Colorado. Thanks for the info.

Success on my Desert Big Horn sheep hunt In reply to
Everything finally came together yesterday and I got my ram, I'll post a full report when I have time later but here is a pic of the ram. It's not a big ram but I'm ok with that, 23" curl, 13" circumference, DWR said it was three and half years old.

Yes, I feel very blessed to have had a chance to get this sheep. That first week was brutal, on the first day I slid down the side of a rock face and was bruised and had rock rash on my left side and leg. I knew this was going to be a very tough hunt, with the closest sheep we were seeing being back in there over a three mile hike. Temps were in the mid 80's during the day. When I talked to your stepson, he told me that he had seen a ram crossing the road by the river in the early morning hours, so I thought why not give it a try and see what happens. More on this story later, still trying to get everything put away.

I'm very excited about you success. Both the draw and experience.
I to waited 19 years for my elk hunt. Hunted the Fillmore area, Pahvanut area. Was very familiar with the area. Scouted it for years.
Hunted for three days alone, expected my boys on Saturday. Shot him on Friday and hauled out one trip by myself.
I would encourage you to take lots of pictures and write your story. Very memorable expierance. Had my heart attack two years later.

You must have missed it but I did write my story here:

I took video of the last part of my hunt but it did not come out, sure did not get as many pics as I would have liked, since I was hunting along but the ones I took and the finished mount are at that link.
Sounds like you had a good hunt, congrats on the nice bull.

That's a great wall. My wife wanted to put lights on my elk too. Like the moose, I've seen some nice ones but no tag, can't hunt that hard anymore I think I'll take my grandkids Antelope hunting next year. I can do that.

Re: [doitall5000] Finally, after 23 yrs I drew my tag In reply to
Thanks, I had a set of deer antlers where the ram is now and it had the lights on them, trying to figure out where to put the deer now. I drew on my moose the first year, took me 4 years to draw on my buff. Back in those days, I was thinking I would be able to get all 5 once in a lifetime animals but I gave up on that idea after this ram.
That would be fun to take the grandkids Antelope hunting, would have to do a bunch of long range shooting to get a good one though, unless you go for a doe Antelope. I did that one year on Deseret, that was a fun hunt plus we got to see a bunch of other animals too, deer, elk, buffalo. That was back when Deseret still had buffalo.
