Lost Creek Slotbuster! 1/21
First one up to Lost Creek this morning. Snowing steadily but the road was passable. Another person showed up while I was getting my sled ready. Finally found the spot I was searching for and fished in 26' of water. Caught several under the slot fish, a couple of slot cutts and bows, and this attached 22.5 in bruiser. Fish were all up and down the water column and I caught them at all depths, including just under the ice. Caught the 2 biggest on minnow type jigging lures with no bait or scent on it, with the buster inhaling the lure. Fun morning!

I am in awe that you would venture out fishing on one of the biggest storm days of the year. Impressive. Congrats on the big one. You gotta love it when it all comes together.

WOW !!! Your a real Trooper to brave a storm like this one !! But I guess that is what you have to do to catch a fish like that ! Congratulations !! How deep was the snow when you left ?

Really the snow wasn't too bad. Coming out maybe 4 inches at most. It did snow steadily the whole time I was there, but you could see the surrounding hills pretty well so it wasn't too bad. 1/2 way down the canyon it cleared up and by the time I got on the freeway the roads were just wet driving home. The slush was bad on the lake though, so if you go, make sure you are prepared.

Congrats that is a very nice cutt, especially for LC. If you don't mind me asking, did you park at the parking area by the dam or dive to the back by the boat launch?

I parked at the dam. I don't think you could get to the boat ramp without a snowmobile.

When we were there last week, you could but it has snowed a bunch since then, so I'm sure you are right. Did you see any deer or elk while going in?

No, which I thought was odd. Yet I went up in the dark and coming home I wasn't looking too hard. A couple of bald eagles and a bunch of turkeys out mixed in with cows along their feed line. Saw tracks across the road a few times going up, but that was it.

We saw tracks as well, no deer but the turkey numbers up there are getting out of hand, they are everywhere that the cattle are.Crazy

Nice! There are some nice fish in that lake especially since they placed the slot limit.

How were the edges and the slush?
I have not fished there in several years - may hit it this weekend.

Edge was solid where I accessed the ice. The slush was bad out on the lake. A crust on top that I broke through easily with about 3 inches of water under the crust. Make sure you have good boots. A good 8 - 9 inches of clear ice under that. Although it was cold today and with the clear skies tonight and cold temps it could freeze up a bit.

I went up Saturday early & there was a nice elk on the road in front of me but couldn’t get a good pic.

That is a decent bull, thanks for the pics, looks like they had not plowed the road that day, it was nice a clean when we went up a week ago Monday.
Who was the fishing?

It was busier than I’ve ever seen it but still managed to catch 6 cutts all in the slot. It was wet & miserable though, water between the snow on top & the ice. It was the back road before the newly paved road.

So you took that side road that's just before the town? If so that's the same place we saw a small group of elk last year while going up ice fishing.

Yes, the one that still has pot holes. Lol In the past I’ve seen groups of elk in that area too.
