Ice should be off Strawberry soon

Was fishing for Kokanee had a hard time finding them
saw some down 50 ft. but could not get them to bite should have changed lures.
had to change to catch the 4
ended up catching 4 all in the same spot.

could see them on the fish finder down 20 feet
caught them going south west, would turn the boat around go back but could only catch them going the one way, took 6 passes going the one way to catch the 4

the dodgers I was using was blue and pink glow, pink squids.

fished from 8am to 12.

water surface temperature at 10 AM 43.2 and down 140 feet temp. was 41.1

Hey Robert,

I can't wait for Strawberry to ice off. The kokes have been bigger and I know the water better. That said, I really can't wait for Strawberry to ice off so I am headed back to Jordanelle in the morning. I cooked up the ones we got Saturday and I remembered why I am totally c&r with trout.

We were able to book our long term campsite at Strawberry bay this morning - they still don't have the website up to book the long term sites, so they resorted to booking on the phone. I have been on their list for months. Getting excited for Strawberry kokes.

Any idea how long before SC frees up?

I will be up there checking on the snow pack and will swing by to check it out. Sure hope it melts soon.

My bear hunt starts in just over a month and I need to hike in and find some places to set up some baiting stations.

I've got a couple of spots picked out up by the summit of Daniels Canyon. One place is where a fellow told me about where his friend harvested a nice looking cinnamon color phase bear and the other is where I have seen a few bears over the years while bow hunting over behind the Summit Lodge.

Need to get in and get the GPS numbers of where I'm setting up so that I can get the sites registered with the state so I can start baiting when the hunt opens. We all know fast the government is with paperwork. Wink

Funny story: Once when I was a forest fire fighter we were riding back from Duchesne on a bus in the middle of the day. Somewhere down around Whiskey Springs I looked out the window and there was a bear standing on all fours in the middle of the campground like he owned the place. Nobody else saw it at all.

I always thought the country around Strawberry Peak and Twin Peaks looked like good bear country. And we used to see DWR bear traps on over into the Wardsworth country. Man, you are going to have so much fun. Never got a bear and at this point I may just have to take it off my bucket list unless I win the lottery.

I was talking to a buddy yesterday about Kokanee at Jordanelle. Was going to give it a go this year. How big were the ones you caught?
