Thanks Ben, I took today off and tried your method of float/trolling and I lucked out and found them and I didn't hook them very well, but had a lot of takes and couple break offs, but they were big fish today, not very long compared to girth, but fat and chunky monsters... I got another 27" cat that was the long skinny type build and I didn't think it was near as big of fish as several of the 24's today... But it did have a huge bite out of it's tail, so there was a long skinny top part of the tail that hit 27, but the rest of the tail made it look a lot smaller with that big chunk missing..

I figured all of team south would have a bunch of big ones today as well... Maybe they just haven't posted yet.. It was a beautiful day and I'm sure glad I got to burn a little vacation, we don't get many days like that one.... Sure am sunburned now though...

I seen a bunch of boats on Cutler today, so we may see a few more entries from up there today at least if they are BFT'ers anyway... I think one might have been TNA with the mudmotor with the long shaft... They probably didn't see me in my toon as they zipped on past...

Toon treated me pretty well today, but sure is hard to photograph cats from it... I had to stand on the seat to get up high enough to get the fish in the photo.. Good that fish was tired and didn't flip till after the pictures.. Oh BTW someone had lost that fish not long ago, it was trying to poop out some monofilament... I trimmed it up before I let it go, so it doesn't get the fish snagged... Anyway, that's somebodies one that got away...

My wife called me to come home at two, but later tonight I went back and bank fished where I had found the cats in the toon and it was better from the bank, than it had been from the toon earlier...at least I caught more fish in a shorter duration... Fun day... Later J

Glad to see you had such a fun night and got a bumper. In the chart shuffle I got bumped down to a tie for tenth place so I need to get out and catch something. I have goals to stay in the top ten individuals and keep a Top Ten cat on the board at all times. I need a good cat or two to do that.

Jeff, yeah it touches the line at 29. But if you had used a fine point Sharpie, it may have just missed it by a smidge............Wink Nice catch.
Was thinking of heading up your way this weekend, but the weather guessers are saying it's gonna rain the next 4 or 5 days......Mad

Thatís a great goal, I wish I could get one of the top ten fish, but it just keeps bumping up every time I get close. Guess I need to find a 30+ fish if Iím going to do that. I probably need to fish more to hit your goals, but I know I donít have time to do that so Iíll do the best I can with the time I have. I would like to beat my last years score, but Iím behind by an inch for the time of year that weíre at, so I may not get there this year. Iíll keep trying to sneak out before the spawn and hope to find another good one or two. Later J

Yeah Forest youíre right for sure it was barely touching. I wish Iíd seen when I was taking the pictures so I could have adjusted itís lay or pinched itís tail so it crossed better. I thought it was good when I was shooting the pictures but a little wiggle of the fish can change what the camera sees. I should have built the bump board wider so the spikes will fit in belly down, the fish look bigger when you see those big ole heads.

Iím afraid the weather is on the way so I donít know if the cats will play or not this weekend. But itís always fun to try unless itís too wet and miserable. Good luck if you come and I think the cats are in the sloughs so the river is probably slow fishing now. Later J

I will always respect and accept the judges decision on a fish length. That said, I think if you can get a fish (my favorite here Wink) to show 35 and 15/16 of an inch it should be accepted as 36. Any fish that is 1/16 shy could easily be repositioned to make the line. When we plan to release a fish we don't have time or opportunity to make multiple photos to work out wiggles with multiple positions. Especially tough when fishing alone, or in a kayak, or at night.

The judging has been fair and consistent and I don't see anybody complaining. Call 'em as you see 'em Jeff and all is good... unless I happen to post up a 35 15/16 cat.Sly

Will we ever have consistent good weather for cattin"??Tongue

That is the hard part of this job, you see some fish all stretched out to the max and just make the line, and others are kinked and crooked tailed and just fall short and you know that the one deserved the line just as much as the other one, so hopefully a little grace in judgement is applicable and not strictly always letter of the line... But at the same time, it's not good to give the same score to a 15/16 fish as a 3/8+.... but it happens... so we all need to catch fish an 1/8" over the lines... Tell you what, if you get that 35 15/16 fish I'll call it 36"... Later Jeff
