Strawberry 2019-06-03
Got the boat out for the first time this season today. Went into Soldier Creek and caught a few kokanee. As reported elsewhere on the forums, they were all small (maybe 12-15 inches). All caught around 20 feet on pink/pink.

There were a surprising number of boats out for a Monday -- I think we're all suffering from cabin fever from this record rainfall year.

The reservoir is as full as I've ever seen it, and I noticed the northern side of US 40 by Strawberry River is all swampland. Most of the snow is gone, but there is still some in the shadows and on the surrounding mountains. Lots of gunk in the water, and the usual scattered driftwood from the spring runoff.

The thermocline has yet to really develop... I guess we need some warmer weather to get the surface water temp up a bit. Here are the temps as reported by my FishHawk around noon (after the surface had warmed a degree or two in the sun):

0 ft: 49.2 F
5 ft: 48.7 F
10 ft: 47.9 F
15 ft: 47.7 F
20 ft: 47.5 F
25 ft: 47.3 F
30 ft: 44.7 F
35 ft: 43.9 F
40 ft: 43.7 F
45 ft: 43.2 F
50 ft: 42.8 F
55 ft: 42.7 F
60 ft: 42.7 F
65 ft: 42.5 F
70 ft: 42.2 F

Yes to the cabin fever. I went up on Strawberry side by marina, fished Friday and we caught 7 Kokes, 1 cutthroat, Kokes we descent size, one larger size. also fished Saturday and Sunday, caught Kokes every day but Friday was the best. Water temps was about 47 degrees, fishing about 35 feet using orange dodger and orange squid. tried pink but didn't do much with it. trolling right around 1.3 to 1.5 MPH

this is my log from my fish hawk log
on the strawberry side catching kokes at 24 to 30 feet down was best for me biggest was 18" nothing under 14"
I got a lot of cuts biggest was 22" at 8 am my wife ask me how many fish we caught. I said I had no Idea. a lot we missed more kokanee than we have ever missed they were coming out of the water and getting of the hook. it slowed down after 8am I'm fast at getting lines back in the water some times we had all four lines with fish on then dead after 8 to many cuts this one pole could not keep the cuts off changed setup and it still got cuts.
