Did you ever get some info on shore fishing Lake Pleasant? I'm looking to go this weekend and had the same question you had.

Iíve only fished pleasant once and I was in a boat and didnít catch a darn thing. It was super windy and hard to stay in one place with my little boat though. Iíve talked to a few people who catch lots of fish out there though. A good area to start would be in the coves on the west side of the lake. It looks like there is good road access. There is a cove by the desert tortoise campground that looks like it has good cover to catch some bluegill in. I would use a small, 1/16 or 1/32 ounce jig with a curly tail on it. You could either do a slow retrieve or put a bobber above it. Catfishing would probably be good there too but that can get a little boring for a kid. Make sure what ever you use you tip it with a small piece of worm though. Bluegills love em. I wish I had more specific suggestions for you but Pleasant is a lake I always try to get out on but i never seem to have the time. If you are near a community pond those are great for the kids. Too many adults there for my liking sometimes though. If you have any questions about lakes farther east feel free to PM me or post on the forum. When you catch some make sure you upload the pictures though. Good luck 👍

Hi. I'll chime in. I used to live in the Phoenix area and fished Pleasant a lot. In fact, I am the one who originally set up the Arizona board for BFT. Also the Float Tubing board. And that's how I fished Pleasant mostly was from a tube.

I was back in Phoenix recently and took a recon drive up to Pleasant, to revisit an old fave fishing spot. There have been a lot of changes over the years. But some of my better spots in times past were up near the Castle Creek bridge...and to the south along the shoreline there. Plenty of sunfish, crappies, white bass, largemouth and catfish if you hit it right.

When water levels are up, you can park on the south side of the bridge and walk down to a narrow access above the culverts that run under the road. Pitch spinners or plastics for white bass...or soak bait for catfish in the channel.

Also, if you go across the bridge a ways you will find dirt roads heading south that allow you to get down to the lake along the eastern shoreline of that arm of the lake. Usually a lot less competition for fishing spots over there. It takes some driving and looking to find fishable spots...and fish.

Used to be fantastic fishing for white bass and other species fishing right off the dam. But since 911 all of our dams are off limits to the public. However, there can be some decent fishing off the shore not far from the dam.

Going into the hot part of the year, most of the fish go deeper in the warming water. So it is best to find spots with quick dropoffs into deeper water.
