Hey Jeff, I did a little mod to my fish ruler to (hopefully) make it more visible during photo sessions. Would you mind giving it your stamp of approval before I try it out?

Your Grandpa already got permission for you on that bump board so yes it is good. I got wondering if my reply didnít send when I answered him. If so, Iím sorry you needed to check again. But go ahead and use it. Good luck. Jeff

Nice kitty Ahi. Good to see fish are in there. I tried that spot for the fisrt time last night til about 3am. Had a couple small tugs, but nothing substantial enough to try a hookset on. Guess I need to try a different setup.

I've tried it at night , not a lot of action but did get a few. most of the action was from 10 till midnight. all fish were caught on a santee cooper rig, and carp guts.

Thank you. Is the river level about as low as it typically gets? Or should I expect it to drop some more? Last time I was out there it was considerably higher and faster than this trip

it is about as low as it gets this time of year. there is no flow right now more like a lake than river. The bird refuge has all its gates closed so it is backing up making the water level of river rise a little.

You might want to give Whistlers Bend ( where you caught your Walleye) a try. I tried it last night caught a 28 and a 27 inch. Dont know if they be there in the day time it is a shallow spot of the river. Last time I went down to the refuge loop they had all the gates closed. Even the channel running north was almost dry.

Had planned to hit the river today. But son and I did so well down at Utah Lake out of Lindon yesterday, wife and I went down today. We didn't get as many Cats or White Bass, but she got a 29 inch contest bumper

It's been a really tough year. Last year there were so many 30 inch fish in the river I lost track of how many I had caught. This year I having trouble finding many that go over 28 inch. Hopefully the fall cool down brings the big boys back out to play.

pictures are from last night and today

Hey John itís good to hear that youíre still getting out. Iíve only caught one cat since early May. But Iím hoping to get out s little more before too long. I need to get my grain up and I guess the hay will start all over after that, but soon Iím hoping to get fishing. Good luck and thanks for keeping the north on top. Later J

Yeah, John's still out there beating the bushes and river spots. I ran into him and jig-fisher Friday when I was changing spots. Then he stopped at last spot I was at. I hadn't had more than a few nibbles all morning, so was heading home. I'm not quite on the freeway south and my phone buzzes, John says" You left too soon" and sends a photo of a 27 incher. Now that wouldn't have done me any good for the contest, but would have kept me from toting that skunk home.

With the Southern Teams moves up the standings over the weekend, Jeff, you and me are not alone in 8th place any more Laugh.

Forest you are correct on the tied scores... I think there are more at 85 points than any other score... Lot of people between 87 and 83 points... must be the size of the average big fish... To get beyond these scores you have to find the real trophy fish... Wish I knew where to find a few of those... Later J

It's sure hard to find the good fish once it gets this time of year... I sure have struggled this time of year, every year in the contest... Then I give up on the cats and start chasing smallies, not as big, but easier to find... I'm about there, if I ever get back on the water... Good luck to you two to cross the path of the biggies... Later Jeff

Getting kinda crowded up there in the 90+ scores. It has been a good year so far, I don't remember a year with at least three guys in the 90s and it ain't over yet. It seems like September always produces a few 30s.

Hope springs eternal... even I could snag one this year.

Fun contest and I like Forest's assessment of the important part which is learning new ways to catch 'em and making new friendships.

Press on.

John, that dad and kids left the 31.5 spot today about 1 p.m. We moved over into it. I started getting those little bait stealer taps and tugs almost immediately. Between 1 and 230 p.m. that, and one hard drag pull was all there was. Got hot and wasps were swarming. Figured retreat was better than getting STUNG and skunked.
Good goin on the 32 inch cat.

Yeah Forest . That spot might be best early in morning. Once the little bait stealers move in the big ones ether move out or just dont have a chance at the bait.

The other spot next to the outhouse might hide a few big ones just not many because of how they drain it down every now and then. Although it has been flooded and one gate wide open for about 3 weeks now . Giving some fish time to come in from main river. I'm thinking of hitting that one hard in the morning. I did get a 27.5 inch out of there today.
