We were trolling in S shapes with top speed going at a whopping 3 mph.

The fish hit a perch pattern rapala taildancer and didn't surface more than once before we got it to the boat. I missed the surface because I was yammerin to Craig that the fish felt really good. No jumps.

It did on the initial hookup make a dive to the deep, when we had him in the net, in the water, to remove the lure he was burping like crazy, sounded really low pitched and mean so it added to the enjoyment of landing this beast.

But CBR...that's not a he trout it's a she trout...and her name is Gertrude. I recognize her from the gill net. She wasn't burping or growling...and was it before or after you gave her that big smooch? She was moaning...cause she's in love with you.

Did you mark that spot with an X? Cause I'm sure there's a gaggle of fishermen out there looking for it.

Congratulation on that beauty...but we knew they were there...and that's the first of many. I hope whoever else catches one of these behemouths also takes good care of them and practices Catch, Photograph and Release.

Good job, man...now go take a tranquilizer...next week we'll go after other big ones.

thats a very fat brown. being 25 in. i would say a fair guess puts it at 6.5 or close to 7lbs. beautiful fish. not silverish like alot of lake browns either. i know some guys that do replicas too if you want info let me know.

Great looking fish, Jordanelle should be getting a reputation for big browns, - as you can see I got a similar one in February in the Provo Arm downrigging a ghost pointer.

I know its bigger than some of those bass posted that were being claimed as 6-7lb smallmouth last year. ;)

Chris , Did you catch that this year in February ? Nice fish . I ice fished it hard this year with only a 20"er thru the hole as my biggest . Nailed about 20 browns , 2 cutts and about dozen bows thru the ice in february .

I don't blame CBR for getting an "extreme makeover" for pulling a Jimmy Houston too far...

Better yet, better replace that face of yours with that brown's kisser... looks better that way! I cannot vouch for your wife's opinion...

Yea, I got that one when there was still ice in the north arm by the marina, I was in 110 ft or so, with a nice string of big fish on the graph at around 70. I use a pair of Cannon Digitroll IV's while downrigging and program them to keep my stuff 4 ft. off bottom as we hit the shallower contours. The one in the picture hit as we came off such a contour and the lure was dropping back deep. I caught several other browns a little smaller than that hog using the same technique.

Wow, what a fish! I was fishing Deer Creek yesterday and one of the fishermen I talked to had already heard about your catch. We caught a fairly nice Brown at DC yesterday and were talking about it at the boat launch, and that's when we heard about your catch! Congratulations. Did you catch him trolling, casting, or ?

hey pisci what was the length on that fish? hard to judge with your son holding it :) 26in.? just curious guess on weight or did you weigh it? catch and release or gourmet meal? just curious on this stuff.
