LOL, that is great! Instead of just bragging about his catch, he's trying to make us hungry too. LMAO

On a serious note, what kind of recipe is that? Looks interesting. Cool

My son and I went to a local pond for a fishing derby on free fishing day. The pond had been stocked with cats and white bass. We initially were trying for some cats but were not having any luck with traditional baits so we switched to a 2 inch Maniac Minnow # 040 and were going after the white bass when this 4.25 pound cat took the offering! The biggest cat my son has taken to date! We hope to get out fathers day week end for some trout action.

Hopefully my reward for taking my son out fishing when he is young will be that he takes me fishing when I am old!

Tried the 2" white maniac minnow with a pink jig head and tipped with a piece of white bass meat at Utah Lake yesterday morning. I tried casting it, as well as trolling in my float tube both in the middle of the water column and on the bottom.

No luck. Didn't catch anything on anything else either so, so no fault of the maniac!! lol

when i got the package in the mail i was amazied with the detail on the minnows. i used the changeable craw color more than the other but used the equally for awhile. i had a white jig that i put a changeable craw 3'' and threw maybe 4 casts and landed a 16'' smallmouth and then the next cast a 14'' largemouth, all with the swimming motion and then that was it with everything else that i used. then i used a green jig head and had tons of bites with the 2'' sand scapin(sp?) but couldn't get to the shore. had great luck with the lures and hoping to use more if the time comes to try more! thanks james!

This trip to Brownlee Reservior in mid June was Ok, but not as good as it could be. I'm not sure why, but the fish were just not happy. We could catch smallmouth just about everywhere on the 2" Mainiac Minnow " Holograghic White Pearl". But we were hoping for big crappie. We ended up with at least a dozen bass, but no big crappie. The crappie we did catch were caught on big deep diving cranks.

1. Crappie: The color 040 worked very well for crappie. I attached a 2" to a small jig head and used it on a beetle spin. The action was great and they loved it. I also anchored over some structure and went to a jig only. That seemed to work very good as well.

2. I also used a beetle spin set up for Large mouth fishing, which worked well. The color's 045 and 004 seemed like they worked the best; 045 being the best. The 045 matched the local baitfish pretty close, and the detail in the minnows is incredible. I tried to use as light of a jighead as possible because the maniac minnows look really appealling during their decent to the depths. Alot of my strikes for both bass and crappie were on the decent, not on the reel.

3. Flounder, Bluefish, spanish mackerel: Yes, I even took them off the beaten path and got the 3" minnows wet in the big salty pond. Believe it or not, they worked pretty good. For the flounder, I simply supstituted a live minnow with a maniac minnow. I used a weedless hook setup that is bottom weighted so the minnow stayed up right. I also injected the minnow with a little Menhaden oil for taste. Cool I slow trolled around the creeks and landed a few nice flounder. The blues and spanish were nipping at the lures offshore at the reef. The only problem is that the minnows don't last long after a few hits from one of those toothy critters. Even with the flounder, they didn't last too long. The same color worked the best for all three, 045. The shine is where it's at. I hope to get the pictures up as soon and the film is full. Cool

Fished my first solo Bass tournament and tried all the toys in the box for the first hour. Once again the the stick worm was all they wanted. Lost a nice one 10ft from the boat when he jumbed that could have gotten me 3ed. Get that mold ready James.Smile

I fished the Payette River this morning right below the Black Canyon Dam in Emmett Idaho. I used the 3" Maniac Grub (craw) on a lead headed jig. 2 hour total gave me 9 snallmouths and 3 largemouths. The river was running fast and I was surprised to catch this many. But my biggest surprise was catching the 3 largemouth bass out of this spot. Out of the hundred plus times I'ved fished here, these where the first LM.

Thanks James, your product catches fish. Can't wait for my next outing.

Great report Guys!
Very nice fish Ezop! That changeable craw grub works wonders!
Thanks for the reports everyone, I look forward to seeing more!

I fished a team Tournament at Milner in Idaho on June 17th, we ended up 5th place, should of had third but one our fish that we caught in the morning died, and bumped us down to fifth place. We were only four ounces away from first place. My new reaper design really made the difference in our weight for the day.
Thanks again!
James

Hey James,

Can't you make a lure to my specific specs should I so indulged to need one?

This is what I would want it possible:

6" worm. White (prefer holographic), Salted, suspending (or atleast slow sinking), and with a paddle or flutter tail.

What can ya' do for me? I know this would be a killer, no questions asked.

And how about a silver and blue 3" maniac minnow, holographic. Silver body, blue on top. Green on Top would look killer too. This configuration would work super great in saltwater. Mmmm, salted too? Cool

Just a thought James, let me know if i'm too far out of the ball park.

Tarpon4me, 6" worm is what he's been supplying me. Thats the only reason I got fish in the last tournament. Just put your request in the comment section.

I changed my 3-1/2" paddle tail to 4" but the mold was built wrong. We just sent the mold back to the shop to be rebuilt. As for a six inch paddle tail you will need to be more detailed in what your looking for,as in how thick of a worm, how big of a paddle tail etc.
I will work on those multi colored minnows this winter when we have more time. Check out our web site for new updates and lures that have been recently added. The new Cut'r Bug is ripping some Smallies over five pounds. Thanks for the reports everyone and thank you for your support! The next new lures are a 4" paddle tail, 3" salt stick, 2-1/2" Cut'r bug and 1-1/2" Salt Cut'r designed for ice fishing and pan fish. Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys, it's been crazy around the shop lately, not much time for fishing either!

Hey James! Thank you for the Maniac Minnows! I used them on Lake Superior Labor Day Black River Harbor Fishing Derby. Unfortunately, the only one they hit on was the green/red/black and it was on a single hooked Finn Spoon. Well, to make a long story short, by the time we pulled it up from the 225 foot depth, and had it to within 30 feet of the boat, the 35 lb leader snapped. But was oh so much fun trying to land it. Can't wait for next spring, as the boat is now being pulled for the winter. I will be using them on the local "small" puddles like Lake MilleLaqs in a few days if the weather holds, but as all midwesterners know, it can change in a instant around here. Thank you again. The action of the minnows on the tips of those trolling spoons was awesome. I will be ordering some of the worm body types for the small mouth and large mouth bass around here.
Thanks again

well there is still the oppertunity to get your hands on a pair of grubs and a stainless steel leader to test them with on a couple contest on the not nessisarily fishing board.

the coated stainless steel spinning leaders are assembled by me. Most exiclent for bass walleye wippers, you name it. Yes they even work in salt water.

so keep your eyes out on the not nessiarily fishing board, one set up is given away every week. there may also be other oppertunities popping up so pop in there from time to time...

We hit Brownlee Reservoir in Idaho and put the Maniac minnows to the test for bass and crappie. And once again we were not disappointed. We fished the 2" minnows on a white headed crappie jig and we used both the white pearl and brown color at random. I knew the brown would just kill them, but I never knew how good the white ones would work. I was pretty impressed with the results. We caught a ton of bass and 11 crappie.
