I live up in Spokane Washington and over the next 2 months will be spending quite a bit of time at local lakes that cater to the fish you are wanting to test these on. If i qualify i would like to test the 020 watemelon brown/multi 2-inch maniac minnow.

Hey James, I would like to give the 053 Shimmer shad a try. I've been thinking about buying some since I read about the guys using them at Willard a few weeks back. I would be using them on walleye and wipers. Thanks,WH2

Hey there James,

I noticed there are limitations to the species prefered in testing. Is there anyway to broaden that a bit? I've got multiple applications for the 2" and 3" in both fresh and saltwater. If nothing else, I could post my complete findings, the extra species will be a bonus.Cool

Here is my list of top 4 Prefered colors, #1 being my first choice:

1. 045
2. 040
3. 048
4. 004

I listed multiple colors incase of shortages in certain colors of specific sizes.

Hello, I live on the flathead lake in the great state of Montana. Flathead lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the mississippi ( so i am told ) We have trout, salmon, perch SM Bass and many many more kinds of the fish you need tested. I am requesting an assorted bunch and will provide a detailed report on a spreadsheet dictating conditions, time used, results, pole used ect, as well as pictures of the setup . I thank you for your consideration in this test.

Here is what I would like to test if only 1 is available ( in order of preference)

053
013
036
040
045

If you have other game fish that you would like to test these lures for, then that would be fine. We would however like to see atleast a report of one of the species listed above.
There are no shortages of any of the colors at this time! However that can change from week to week as these lures become more popular. Even in the event of a shortage, we usually have them back in stock in a few days.
Please post or send me a P.M of the State you live in if you are interested. We would like to see reports from several different States. If there is a large intrest in testing these lures, then we may send out to more than five people.
We would also like to see photo's of fish caught on these lures.
Thanks to all for your intrest!

James,
I'm up here in Idaho and I will be fishing the Brownlee Reservoir this coming May 24th for a good solid 4 days. (I'll also will be fishing this reservoir through out the summer also.) This is a great crappie, smallmouth bass and catfish lake. I would be willing to give your product a try and post a report with pictures. I do have a preference for brown colors, but I think that if your willing to allow me to try this product, the choice should be all yours. If you have a color/style that you would like to see a fish picture with and a report. I'll try my best to catch a qaulity fish with it.
The crappie in my avator came from Brownlee.

I would like to be considered since I will be fishing several different lakes for smallmouth, walleye, crappie and wipers over the next month. The colors that I would prefer are 040, 046, and 020. My camera a rod are ready to go!

Thanks.

Hopefully my reward for taking my son out fishing when he is young will be that he takes me fishing when I am old!

I have a few you sent me awhile ago and will also give them a throw. Swimbaits haven't been to good for my CT fishing. Boys, if James makes a bait you'll know it's top shelf and will catch fish. I make some of my own plastics and still buy from him. Good luck to all.

I recently used the Maniac saltsticks in the TBF/FLW Federation Western Divisionals at Lake Lowell Idaho. The best ones were a junebug pattern that I got to help James make last feb. I caught limits the first 2 days before 8am using the saltstick.

Here is a picture of my best Largemouth.

Started around 9am and got off the water a little after 3pm. We boated 13 wipers, the largest was a little over 20 inches, the smallest around 14 inches. We trolled around the island and got a double hookup and found a few around the feed lot area. The Producer was the hot lure with a few coming to the 3" chartreuse/holographic Maniac Minnow, using an orange jig head like the one in the picture. WH2

I wrote up a report on the lower Provo fishing at lunch yesterday. Didn't get any hits, but it really wouldn't have mattered what I was using I don't think I would have gotten any hits there under those conditions.

CoolI live in Southern California, where the local lakes are heavily pressured and the bass have seen all the "usual suspect" lures. But your Manaic Minnow looks like something that could cure lockjaw in both smallmouth and largemouth bass. The 3" smoke/silver holographic flake looks like a winner--especially for dropshotting. Send me some so I can go out and rip some lips!

Maniac,

I caught a 14" Cutthroat Trout with a 2" white mm2-041 maniac minnow while trolling today. I'll have a pic of it soon.

Thank you James with Maniac Custom Lures.
I received the assortment of various soft plastics after I had already gone to Brownlee Reservoir. I will be going back up in 10 days (mid June) and plan on fishing the heck out of your lures. The rivers around Emmett have been running 7 times higher then normal, so itís been tough to get a good bite for smallmouth on jigs. I went twice, but the water was just to fast. So until today, Iíve had no luck with catching fish.
This morning I was lying in bed waiting for the sun to rise and I thought I would grab the pole and the tackle you sent and go hit the local pond (Sawyers Pond in Emmett Idaho) for some largemouth. I have fished this pond 4 times and have yet to actually catch a bass in it. I thought I would call my buddy up and wake him up (its 6 a.m. remember) and see if he feels like meeting me there. You can tell he is all sleepy eyed and mumbles something I didnít understand, but after trash talking through the phone on how I can out fish him, he agrees to meet me for a challenge.
I arrive and tie on a Texas rigged 4Ē Maniac Cinnamon Crawfish Salt Stick, and I made a promise to myself to really give this lure a solid try and use nothing else that morning. My buddy arrives and puts on his crankbait. After listening to him lecture me on how he lost the State record here and he plans on catching it again and blah, blah, blah, blah. I guess he finally woke up and is paying me back for the trash talking earlier.

For the first hour of daylight we had nothing, no action anywhere. I start to think about the cup of coffee sitting back in my truck when I get that great sensation of a bass picking up my lure and slowly swimming down the bank. I just love that feeling right before you set the hook. Fish on and quickly to the bank it comes. It was about a pound and a half and my first largemouth out of Sawyers Pond. Here it is.

Several minutes later I get a hit and missed it, I tried to set the hook way to quick. So I threw it back to the same spot and waited a minute before giving it a gentle twitch. BAM, it was back and hooked. 3 flips and one mad run it was landed. Maybe 2 pounds on a good day.

My buddy shows up with a nice 4 pounder that is bleeding bad, swallowed his crankbait and had hooks in it gills. We tried to save it, but just couldnít see it making it. My wife will fry the fillets and serve it with her famous pasta and white sauce, plus freshly shredded parmesan.

My friend claims he caught 3 bass on his cranks, only the one he was willing to show. I caught 2 and each time he was just a looking, like he wanted what I was using.

So my first report using the Maniac Lures was a positive one. The 4Ē Maniac Salt Stick held strong for well over 100 cast in heavy cover from the shores of Sawyers Pond. It produced 2 Largemouth Bass, in a pond Iíve never had any luck with before. The 4Ē Maniac Salt Stick, Texas rigged looked deadly in the water, and I believe if I had just a little more patients or even just some more coffee in me at the time, I would have caught even more. I only used the one lure the 3 hours I was there and here it is after my abuse.

I look forward to my next outing using Maniac Custom Lures. Iíll be sure to post more in the future.
