LADIES!
Started checking out this thread and realized that there is a lot of FISHING WOMEN out there.
I love seeing this! I am strictly Fly Fishing , but it wasn't always that way. The good thing is my abilty hasn't changed, I can still catch a fish in a puddle LOL
Ladies, if you ever get the chance to try Fly Fishing, I would like to tell you that it appears that women are naturals at this.Cool
Plus you don't get that smelly stuff under your nails LOL

You're right Flygoddess, there are alot of women anglers out there now. We've got a young lady on the bass tour as well, Jen Carroll. I wish I could get my wife to start fishing, but i'm positive that will never happen. Frown I also am excited about the increasing amount of female anglers out there. Some of the worlds premier tournament anglers are women, and they are very talented at what they do.

I'd like to see more women saltwater fishing. Most are freshwater anglers, but there is alot more opportunity for fishing in freshwater than salt; as there are only so many people that live by the ocean.

I mostly saltwater fish myself, but I just recently posted a message on this board about fishing for trout. If I was motivated enough, i'd actually try flyfishing. But as of right now, I see no advantage for me by doing so. Maybe one day i'll give it a try.

Since you specialize in fly fishing, what would you reccomend for a starter rig? (rod, reel, terminal tackle) When I say starter kit, I mean something semi-compact I can use around a small pond or lake for bream, bass, and other preditory species. Maybe i'll start there if there is a decent combo for a decent price I can purchase.

Although I am a believer in YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, I have had several friend go with this kit and they love it! I think that it is everything you need and it is a really nice set-up:

Thanks for the tip. That looks like a really nice starter package, even has the flies and carrying case. Cool

I also share your philosophy with the "you get what you pay for." I don't know how many times i've shared that very same point with other anglers on the forums. Especially since I target big game, I can't afford to get cheap gear.

However, since I was just thinking of targeting species of a lesser signifigance to start, I don't need to spend 300 bucks on a fly reel. There are times when I wish I lived near the flats in Florida, I wouldn't mind spending the money for an international series Penn or gold series Fin Nor fly reel then.

I've always enjoyed tying on a tiny popper to my ultra lite spinning tackle for bream. It's so awesome to watch a huge blue gill slam the little popper on top water. That's some easy and quick afternoon action. Even when I fish offshore, I love top water. Tossing a plug or spoon into a school of feeding bonito or spanish is such a rush. If you lived closer, i'd say if you show me how to fly fish, i'll take you offshore in the ocean. LOL, but that's an awful long drive. Tongue

In that case I think this is a great deal. You also have your choice depending on what species you are after. Thumbs up to the Genisis!

Come on guys, My granddaughters are more than happy with the barbie rod and reel, and I got my 9 year old an ultra light rig for pan fish that she can handle well. Lets start the girls out simple like we did and build on it. Ya I have to put the worms on for them, but who cares. The next generation will carry on our tradition. ONE STEP AT A TIME.

There is another Fishing lady on this site too. She was contributing alot and I'm sure that she is still lurking around. Her username is Fishermom.

She has quite a few pics in the 2004 16species contest.

As far as fishing females in my fambly there is only one. My Mom, TubeBabe. She used to and still braves some of the extreme temps that nature could provide.

My sister could never get into it, my wife loves to watch me fish and my daughter could only be a princess cause she didn't want to harm Nemo. Go figure.Cool

My wife Poze is heavy into fishing also, but unfortunately I can't get her to post enough on here, she hasn't caught the BFT bug yet. She is a postaholic on another fishing forum that she visits daily. I do believe with time I can change her ways.Wink

Cool Hi flygoddess, this is bassngal. This is the first time that I have been able to post anything in a few days. I love to bass, crappie, bream fish. I have fished for trout in Arkansa one time but used a spinning combo, fished it like carolina rig using 10# test and the leader was 4#. Caught a nice rainbow and a few cutthroat.
I just love to fish.

That's a good way to ruin your H3 in a hurry.Wink

We have guys on the West Coast that fish for Marlin from a Kayak. They hook into 600lbers and get tugged about 2 to 3 miles out from shore.

That is a long journey on a Kayak after fighting a little beast for about 4 hours.Pirate
