SOUTH BRANCH TOWNSHIP, Mich.

-- State police say excessive speed was one of the factors in a snowmobile crash that claimed the life of a suburban Detroit man.

The victim of Friday's crash in Crawford County's South Branch Township is identified as 27-year-old Brent Donald Laskowski, of Washington Township in Macomb County.

State police tell the Cadillac News that Laskowski failed to negotiate a curve before his snowmobile crashed into a group of trees.

The crash happened about 140 miles north of Detroit.

Three Dead, One Missing After Weekend Snowmobile Accidents Incidents Are Unrelated

MADISON, Wis. -- One person is dead and another missing after falling through ice on the Rock River this weekend, authorities said.
Jefferson County authorities said the incident happened on Saturday at about 6:30 p.m. The two people were snowmobiling on the Rock River near County Road N when they apparently fell through.

Rescue crews were able to locate one of the riders. The woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital. +

The search for the other rider continued on Sunday, but ended early because of weather conditions. Searchers will look again on Monday, authorities said.

Meanwhile, another snowmobiler was killed in Chippewa County in an unrelated incident. A 43-year-old man died after his snowmobile went through the ice on Larrabee Lake on Saturday night.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department said Marlon Przybylla, of Bloomer, was at the Salisbury Resort on Highway 40 on Saturday afternoon, but never arrived at the place that he was going.
