Bear River Corinne report and Warning

HI all, I haven't been here for awhile but that is because I have been super busy. Anyway on to the report.

I went out to Corinne last night and we caught a few kittys. The biggest one was about 3 lbs. The next smallest was about 2-2.5 lbs. We were using chicken livers and the action was not real hot but it was decent.

Here is the warning if you are in a boat. The water is high and is covering some shallow rocks that I believe are new. The area around the new bridge foundations seem to have some new rock around them. I wiped out the prop on my Briggs outboard. When I say I wiped it out that means there are no more blades on it. We got a bit scared when we ended up in the swift current with no motor. It was a close call that almost sank the boat. It was pitch black out and we were trying to keep from getting lodged against the bridge. We luckily were able to laugh about it when we got the boat loaded.

Good luck out there, and be safe.

Hey John how you been, good to read you were able to get out there and catch a few cats. I'm glad you were able to avoid going under in the swift current and night time conditions. Good luck on getting a new prop, I hope those rocks did not do any more damage to your motor.

WH2,

I have been, good but I don't think I have been out since sometime last July. I had a new daughter last July. That made number 6. I have been busy with a new job and the family. Two years ago I started a tradition with the family where we have a Fathers Day Fish Fry. I took this week off so I could get some fish for next Sunday.

Wish me luck.

Here is one of the cats when he was on the skinnin tree.

Nice report, and I'm glad you guys made it back safely.

I haven't seen a "skinnin' tree" since I was down in Florida. A sweet little ol grandma showed us how to skin kitties that way.

The skinnin tree is the best way to skin them. I rarely have a problem with the fish coming off of the drill bit and I use the fillet knife to make two cuts, one across the head and one down the back. The skin comes off quick and easy.

My wife gets testy if I clean fish in the house so its best done outside.

I'm not trying to speak for John and I'm not sure about the drill bit but a skinning tree is the best way to clean a cat. Once you drillUnsure or nail the cat to a tree or post you just skin then fillet the cat. Cats stay alive for hours out of the water so it makes handling them a lot easier that way.

I pounded a 1/2" drill bit into a tree pointy end into the tree at the right height so I don't strain my back. Then when I am going to skin a cat I put his head on the drill bit and smack it down. The drill bit ends up coming out someplace over one of the eyes.

Here is a youtube video of my redneck house, at the end you will see the skinnin tree.

CoolThat is the stone age way to clean cats. I can fillet and skin several cats with my electric knife while you are skinning one.

But, if it keeps mama happy and gives you some good exercise, then go head on 'til your head hurts.

Glad everything has settled down. Hope the family is all doing well.
