Fishing

The road into Lost Dog is 10 miles of dirt. It is washboarded in some spots and rough. People take trailers there all year round. The lake is down from the high water mark at least 20' probably more. Where i'm assuming the burbot bash is to be located, there is room for everyone who is entered to have his own trailer with plenty of room to spare. There is 1 single toilet outhouse (concrete) nearby. No other camping facilities. The closest town is Green River - 10 miles of dirt and 10 miles of highway -- and Rock Springs - 10 miles of dirt and 25 miles of highway. This area is fairly level and it is easy to set up a trailer at this location. Bring plenty of firewood, there are no trees.

I wish I was in that thing...but I'm having surgery on the 13th so it's not to be...INSTEAD...me and the woman who usually out fishes me are heading up THIS weekend (Jan 2) to Lost Dog...I'll let everyone know if they're there and in good number or not. Also, how the road is (hope we're not still there when ya'all get there!), the ice thickness, etc...I guess it's a good thing we are going this weekend cuz it sounds like camping spots are going to be few and far between ... or packed in like sardines...however ya wanna look at it.
I THANK ALL OF YOU who have posted info on how, where, when, etc...I have never caught a burbot, but with this WEALTH of info I have no doubt I'll have some to try by this Sunday!

Count me in for the burbot bash. I am from Idaho so it's going to be a long drive for me, but I have always wanted to ice fish Flaming Gorge. I might be bringing one more.

I will go to town to get some jigs and stuff for burbot, while I am there what should I get to catch the macks? I would like to try to catch a nice mack while I am there. Will anyone be going after a few macks before the bash starts and maybe the day after, that would be willing to give me a few pointers?

My wife and 2 small kids will probably be making the trip but they really don't like ice fishing so would there be some things to do in Green River while I was fishing? I have never been there and don't know how big of a town it is.

Welcome to the site ross220, I'll put you on the list. I use the same lures for macks as I use for the burbot but I fish in different areas. From my limited experience, I have found the burbot are in shallow water 10 to 30 ft this time of the year, where the macks are in 35 to 65 ft. I have also caught some of the smaller macks, up to 24" with buck shots lures. Hopefully come of the other guys can give you some better info on catching the macks, I know there are a few guys that will be there earlier on the 10th and will be there the next day fishing for macks. I wish I could help you on what there is to do in Green river, hopefully one of the local guys will answer your question. See you at the bash. WH2

• There is not a lot to do in Green river, some small shops, movie theaters, bowling and a civic center. Rock Springs 15 miles to the east has 2 malls,movie theaters, civic center(ice skate rink) bowling and small shops. They would have more fun fishing

Where and when do we meet or what time????

I looked at the maps you posted but not sure what to look for...

There is a few people that have heard of this trip that are not on this board can some one let me know what and when and where this is to happen....I don't want to look over the 10 pages...
