Horseshoe Bend Mill Pond
I took some of the neighborhood kids out fishing last Sunday and I am finally getting around to posting my discovery.

Horseshoe Bend Mill Pond is loaded with sunfish and bluegill. I had the kids hooked into all sized of spiny fish using small stimulator pattern flies. Easy catching. The water was swimable last weekend. There is a river water inlet from the Payette on the upriver side. A few people were pulling out trout using worms on the bottom. The water was murky from the run-off.

It has a nice improved ramp by the pit toilets and the shelter. It is around 30 acres. There is sign reading something about a 5 mph speed limit and no jet skis. It is a cool place to take kids or someone from out of town.

Good fishing.

Good report. We might have to take the kids that way when we get together over there again.

Drive north past Horseshoe Bend until you see the weigh station on the left. As you crest the hill and start heading down towards a left hand curve with a bridge on hwy 55 it's immediately off to the right. You can't miss it.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't have any idea where Horseshoe Bend is either. In two years I have learned many new great places but I am convinced that I could spend many more years exploring and still likely miss several.

Not a problem, Horseshoe Bend is a small town on the Payette river about 19 miles north of Boise on hwy 55.

One of the truly great things about Idaho is the diversity it offers in terms of new places to visit. I agree, you could invest all of your free time into exploring and still not see everything that's out there. But I'm not going to let that stop me from trying. Wink

I went up there last weekend. The fishing was slow, but the person I was with did catch a little rainbow. Also in the past I have caught some lunker bass out of there.

Years ago before they rebuilt it we use to bass fish it. It had some dandy LM in it. We usually stop by a few times a year for a dinner of blue gills. Great for the kids. F&G usually stocks it with trout several times a year.
