Jordanelle or Deer Creek Ice?
Anyone want to share any information about the ice conditions at either Jordanelle or Deer Creek Reservoirs? I don't get down that way this time of year. Any info would be appreciated.

A week ago Jordanelle had a small amount of ice in the rockcliff arm, not sure if it was safe but it didn't look like it. Deer Creek has ice in the charleston bay and people have been fishing it. If the weather is good tomorrow I will fish DC and post.

I live near deer creek and today i saw one person out daring the ice on deer creek on the charleston side. kinda a bad idea of him being alone. But It has been frozen for around 2 weeks i think. But the whole lake isnt frozen yet. But maybe ill go check it out to see the thickness and conditions. Im sure its not over 4" or if 3". So you've got to be pretty daring to go out. id probaby give it another week or so to fish on the charleston side. its probably not safe to venture out until you see the crouds of people out there. deer creek usually isnt fishable until around the first or second week of january. But it has been really cold this month, making it freeze alot earlier Smile. But good luck and stay safe for those who are daring.

If you bring up the Camera for the Nelle you can see that the launch is plowed right to the waters edge. That's right the waters. From what I can see there is no ice.

From what I could see 30 seconds ago, the whole main lake is wide open. The launch is plowed right to the waters edge. It looks like there is a small bit of ice on the ramp, like the drippings of some one pulling their boat out. There is a large cleared spot at the top for parking.
Try calling the rangers up there for more info. Also, no telling what tomorrow will bring with this storm coming.

I watched two guys walk out onto the ice Sunday at Jordanelle. The lake is very low this year. I live about 5 minutes from Jordanelle. I would think the ice should be safe now it has been pretty cold at night. I am planing on going out onto the ice on Sunday.

DC is still boatable. I have seen a boat trailer parked in the parking lot on and off all week. The ramp has been plowed but I am not sure about conditions in the morning from all this snow. Good luck.

I have found from many decades of experience that having your line in the water improves enormously your chances of catching a fish. On the other hand, as Ive frequently learned from those same decades of experience, having your line in the water is no guarantee you will catch a fish...

I have trolled Deer Creek all week. Some days it has been quite quick, others a little slow. Today we ice fished it and did quite well, catching our limit in a few hours. It was a beautiful day with especially with the snow falling. The ice was safe, there were more than six inches.

So that was you that I have seen the past 6 days or so out there alone? I have been dying to fish from a boat up there! Fishing the shore line at D.C. really isn't that great. Let me know if you need someone to tag along next time. I am free to drop work and fish anytime! Good luck out there!
