If we're planning on taking snowmobiles/atvs are we required to get a wyoming sticker? If so, how much are they and where can we get them?

We were just up in Evanston today and yes you will need a Wy ATV or Snowmobile sticker, there are two places that have them for sure. The Maverik gas station(open 24 hours) and the Jubliee grocery store(opens at 8am) both at the second exit of Evanston. The cost is $15 for ATV's and $25 for snowmobiles.

UnsureIs this 15 dollar atv licsense for the whole year or just for the day? I'm also wondering where most of the burbots are being caught at night, is anyone using those under water lights that are green. You sure do hear a lot about fishing at night with the green submersible lights but I've never heard anyone mention them in their posts. I'm thinking of trying one but would like some feedback on them if anyone else had tried one, thanks.Fishin'

Yes, the $15 sticker is for the year.
I don't know of anyone that is using any underwater light for burbot fishing, just the glow jigs. The burbot or ling can be found on any rocky point that drops off into deeper water. You can also find them along rocky shore lines but the points are where I have done the best. 10 to 15 ft of water has been the best for me. WH2

So I just looked up the regulations for Wyoming, but I was wondering if somebody could confirm this. Is the limit for burbot on the Wyoming side 3?

Re: [rainbowlunker] Ask your burbot bash questions here In reply to
I use 10 lb test mainly because I use the same rig for lake trout fishing but a lot of folks use line as light as 6 lb and up to 12 lb. After dark I really doubt it matters what line you use.

If you go to the section that is for flaming gorge you will see that there is no limit on the burbot or ling as they are called there. I just looked it up last night and it is there for sure.

Most of the storms we get down here never reach that area up there but they are predicting 1" on Sat, friday looks ok. Here is a link to the accuweather report I'm watching.

Ive heard a lot about fishing rocky points for the ling. I have been studying a couple maps. I have some spots picked out but my question is:

The topo. and sat. maps I am looking at dont show the composition of the ground. Also with (what I am guessing) an abundance of snow, the landscape may be very difficult to read. I have never been to Flaming Gorge so is Buckboard mostly rock? Are the shorelines rock lined around the marina? Is there a better area, ie. north, south, east or west. I am willing to do my own scouting but a basic make up of the landscape would be very helpful.
Thanx in advance,
Chris

As Ash said you won't have any problem with snow up there and yes the shore line around buckboard is mostly rocky. There is an abundance of rocky shore line at the gorge, so you will not have a problem finding a place to fish. It's not a good idea to fish close to a lot of other people so spreading out is your best way to insure you will catch fish. I can not tell you if there is any one area that is "better", than another except for rocky points as Ash said but finding a spot that does not have a bunch of drilled holes is a good place to start.

I called the forest service in Wyoming and they said Fire Hole to Buckbord is froze over, But the only place they feel a wheeler would be safe is firehole because it had been froze the longest. The problem is they don't know how thick the ice is in any of the areas. They told me it has been in the 40's for a few days and just be very very careful if I decide to bring one to the bash. Just trying to see if anyone has taken a wheeler in the past week or so? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the site Pitboss,
sorry but the sign up for the drawing portion of the Bash was over last Friday. You are still welcome to attend the Bash and learn how to catch, fillet and cook Burbot. Plus the Chamber of Commerce is giving items away at the drawing they are having. WH2

Check the regs, but I believe artificial light is illegal on Wyoming waters. I'm not sure if the US Forest Service is letting people slide without a Flaming Gorge Pass for the Bash, so you might save yourself a fine by buying a 3 dollar pass at all of the same places you buy bait and Gorge reciprical fishing stamps. You'll need a pass to be at the Buckboard boat ramp and parking lot area. Fished south buckboard today, no snow on the ice, so get your cleats out. There are ATV's and snowmachines on the ice, but you have to find a place to cross the many pressure ridges. Ice is about 8" in the Buckbord area

Burbot Bash fishermen and women:

i volunteer at Crossroads Urban Center, a SLC food bank.

if there are fish in excess of my family's needs dropped off here, they will be donated to the food bank for distribution to families that will appreciate and use the fresh fish.

today i am running errands, and tomorrow i will be in and out.

there are coolers on the porch to place surplus fish in. i have at least 8 more large coolers if needed.

please feel free to drop off any fish in excess of your wants or needs. they will not be wasted.

thank you;
respectfully yours,
Patrick Perry
