I would love to give this new leader a try and post the results here. I love fishing for all types of fish, including catfish, bass, walleye and trout. I have never fished for Pike or Muskies, but I am dying to try for the Tiger Muskies that have been introduced to Pineview Reservoir in Utah a few years ago. They have grown in size and popularity in the last few years, and I've even heard a recent report that a 73 inch. was reported seen there by gill netting DWR officers. I'm ready to try my luck with these beasts, and would love to try out this leader as well.

Smile This sounds like a great product , will it work good in cold water (ice fishing) ? I'll try both ,open and ice fishing here in Minnesota !

I wouldnt mind giving this a go myself!Wink I generally get out at least once or twice a week and would love to give you some feedback on something new as well as fish with something new. I have experienced alot of crimps and poor line quality in leaders when catfishing, icefishing and flashing and would be eager to try a new product released to test. Who knows I may have a new favorite leader to use to avoid snags and tangles and crimps.

Thanks and looking forward to trying it out!!!!!Cool

now this one is very tempting indeed to me . the fall steelhead and salmon run is nearley upon us and i fish the au sable river system off lake huron . the au sable has one of the harshest riverbottoms around . i have lost many a steelhead due to the concrete blocks and rocks that are covered in at least a 2" thick blanket of zebra mussels . when you have a fish on that could be anywhere from 5 pounds to thirty five pounds or better peel off two hundred feet of line out in just a couple seconds , well any leader that hits those shells is gonna be cut like a rasor . could it handle these harsh conditions ? can it take the strech and strain these fish pound out ? can it run with the big dogs or is it a puppy yapping just to make noise ?

i'm talking real punishment , the kind horror movies are made of .

ya gotta tell it thou , once it's on my line , i don't care how many tears it sheds , were going fishing . i'm just that way , it's all or nothing on the au sable .

if it's up to the challinge and the abuse , i'll give it a go .

Cool I would enjoy testing your product. I am gearing up for barracuda trip and would like to add your product to my list of things to use most often out here in CA.

I am a Mom who often takes her two sons, ages 9 and 11 fresh water fishing in Texas lakes, rivers, streams, and ponds. If my boys don't catch something fairly quickly, they get impatient and want to quit and go home.Anything that would help draw the fish faster would be great!

Upon looking at your leader material ratings, I'd like to try them for application with saltwater flyfishing here in Southern California. I love to flyfish the saltwater for barracuda and other toothy critters that do most leader materials a number. Even the abrasion resistant, co-polymer, fluorocarbon lines with their normally larger diameter eventually give up the ghost.

I usually fish a 10wt with full sinking line and a 250 grain front end to get down. Float tube the Big Salty for a variety of species. I could almost swear I saw your product in a fishing store recently.

Done these field tests before and you can depend on a detailed report for your trouble.

Cool Hey JR, if you are familiar with Turners Outdoorsman, they have the Tyger leader material rather close on the display next to the Spyder wire.

Hi tubeN2,

Yep! I guess I saw them there. Probably the Signal Hill or Firestone/Norwalk store. I'm becoming a real advocate for leaders (after such great success with the fluorocarbons) and use leaders even when chunking jigs. My common setup is main line/sliding egg sinker, pinch-on or no sinker/super small 40lb rated black swivel/4 ft fluorocarbon leader/circle hook or jig. Speaking of the new super lines, have you given them a try yet. If I was a Private Boater (PB'er) that's all I would use but on an open-party boat it's almost impossible. Reason: mostly I have found that it only takes one tangle with someone (doesn't matter whose fault) and it's so difficult to untangle from monofiliment that you'd be embarassed to keep fishing with it.

I'll start using my Spiderwire, PowerPro, and etc. when once again the party boats lighten up and we go out on the Horseshoe to fish structure for big calicos.

Fishing with it from a float tube is a whole different story. Yeeeeee Haaaaaaa

Cool Hey JR,

I've been faithful to the spyderwire. It really helps out alot even though I do more freshwater fishing. On occasion, you will get that one fish that decides to dive for the underbrush to try and break free from your line. I may get my donut setup soon for some salty action. I also like barracuda fishing and would like to try the Tyger Leader. It is a little expensive but I'm sure that it may be worth the money.

I would very much like to test out this leader material. I fish for Tiger Musky here in Utah and I think this would be a great chance to try something new.

Thanks for your time

Hi there theangler,

After a week experimenting with the Tyger leader material at Catalina last and this week, I sent a fairly detailed report on setups, knots, fish caught to their email 'contact' address.

I trust they will contact me if they have further need of more details. Even though the leader line test was 70 pounds, it withstood the kelp and rocks yet didn't scare away the fish as I had worried. I've tied knots to mono and spectra with it and it doesn't slide too badly even with some of the co-polymer lines like Ironsilk. Kinking properties were not bad... for 70lb test. I would have liked to test a little lighter test but that's OK. Now I'll have to go buy some! ha ha
