     Uah lake largies
Been on Utah lake three times in a week. I managed 9 large mouth last week with the biggest a four and a couple three pounders. Just got off the lake an hour ago, Me and a buddy boated 13 today with one four pounder and 10 around three pounds with a few twos. Cannot believe how healthy these fish are at the end of winter. Seems like the bass are coming back. Here are a few pics of today.

What were you using? I was casting a jig out their and caught a carp.

Re: [utahbasser] Uah lake largies In reply to
Nice catch man! what kind of techniques are you using? Just the standard jigs/dropshot/spinnerbait kind of stuff? And it just looks like frag in the background but I assume you're keying in on warmer water places this time of year right?

Re: [fish_or_die] Uah lake largies In reply to
Yes was finding the warmer water. Utah lake is dirty water as we all know so it really warms fast. I was looking for springs adjacent to pockets. and I was throwing jigs and brush hogs and chatter baits in black. The fish are sitting in the deeper troughs by the tules. The fish will come out and grab your bait. They were choking it down, they are very aggressive.

only the best can catch em like that when the waters cold, kudos.....

Very nice, lets hope that this is a trend that will keep growing. The fish that is. Looks like the reduction of carp may be helping?

TY. I have spent a lot of time over several years more than a decade chasing bass in utah lake. I'm out there when the lake is frozen to find hot springs, I have beat my way through tules in my waders to find some of these places and done a lot of map studies to locate areas that hold black bass. You don't just stumble on to these spots, they take work. The more You put in the better the reward. I'm hoping to have a twenty plus day of largies by may on this lake. It is the best Ive seen it this early.

Yes, that is what I am saying. I dont mean to stir any pots, its just my opinion. If there is a four pounder in the pictures than this on I caught last year at Powell is 15 lbs then. How big do you think this one is?

Again, just my opinion.

Slayer. If u don't mean to stir the pot know what ur talking about. Rod and gun was with me and it was put on a scale. I catch around 500 bass a year and don't need to exaggerate on what I catch. I really thought u had more intelligence that to call a guy a liar. I don't need to prove anything to u. There is always someone w negativity. I'm telling you. You are wrong. That fish was four. And I'm not the one claiming to know it all.

Just because you catch a certain number of Bass each year doesnt mean you cannot stretch the truth a bit. That is what makes us fisherman. I was just saying I didnt think any of those were four pounds based on the fish I posted from Powell. Now if holding the fish closer to the camera puts on an additional 1-2 lbs than you may be in the 4 pound category, but again, those are just fishing tales!!! And you have yet to identify which of the pictures holds this elusive four pounder. Now, not that I am a pro bass angler, but I have caught quite a few (some big ones too, look up some old posts' if you want), but a 4+ lb LMB most generally would be able to fit your (adult male) fist in its mouth, the ones you pictured could barely fit three fingers.....just saying!!! Now I stirred the pot!!!

Nice fish and for you to say you only catch 500 per year is way off, my guess would be closer to 1,000 or more for you..

This Is my last post on this. Its not always the size of the head, Like Your fish looks spawned out and the one I caught is not. dont forget the time of year and relize a fish can have a pound plus eggs in them. Im not stretching anything slayer. Its what the scale said. And bassrods Your probably right, But if I put that I would be called a liar on that too. Its unbelievable how someone always has to call another out. It makes me not want to post. Im really trying to be cool about this b.s. If Your so good at how much they weigh slayer You can be the official on this site for making sure everyone is in their guidlines with their post. You feel better.

While is is no secret that exaggeration from "certain prominent" bassers on this forum is a high art form, it should be pointed out that the pre spawn hens that come out of Utah lake from now till the spawn are some of the fattest`one will find in the entire state. What has been posted is entirely plausible.

Utahbasser, thanks for the enjoyable report. Maybe it is time for me to consider putting away the ice fishing gear and get after the green fish myself. (Or maybe not yet, the ice fishing has been pretty good for me latelyWink)

I caught you a delicious bass.
