You can't manage for the things you mention. However I think that those things are just the final nails in the coffin. There has been chubs and even carp in there for as long as I can remember but they were kept in check by the bigger trout. The DWR does a good job most of the time but I don't think even they can deny that the eight fish limit started the decline of the res. From what I have observed there are so many chubs that the smaller trout are competing with that they are not reaching the predatory size we need in large enough numbers. And that res can grow large trout fast. In my opinion the DWR has two choices. 1) Drain the res, retonon and start over. 2) Look at species other that trout to control the chub population.

Well, they have been in Scofield as long as I have been able to fish. We caught them when I was 12. So that's 36 years at least. And the article you referenced doesn't say where or who has distributed them elsewhere. Could this be another case of our beloved DWR transporting them to other waters? Like, well, the Pike in Utah lake?
And why does the map show them in Starvation?

They've been there for 50 years that I know of. That doesn't make them native to the drainage.

They are in Starvation because some bozo put them in Strawberry and they went downstream. Or some bozo helped them.

Oh don't start this again!! It will turn into a long thread of grandpa's grandpa says there were chubs, then they will be called a lyer. yadah yadah!!

Poisoning chubs out does not work forever. Look at strawberry, they are back in there.

Chances are that even after poisoning it out some will survive and make a come back. The best solution is a more natural solution of putting in something that will eat the darn things. Perhaps instead of planting little 8 inch cuts and tiger trout they should put in the breeder cuts that way they will eat the chubs. Or put in Tiger Muskie, or hell even Wipers would eat the chubs I am guessing. Something that would eat the chubs is all that is needed.

I would take your case to the DWR and RAC process and not the internet. The fall RAC meetings are coming up shortly. Send in a RAC proposal or show up in person. Plead your case to the RAC's. The problem I see with this is the DWR has a negative incentive to really do anything to fix the problem on their own. A fishery has to practically be on the brink of total collapse before they will go to into action. Just look at Strawberry in the early 1990's and Panguitch Lake in 2006. Those fisheries were completely over run with chubs before the DWR took action. It is a much easier sell for the DWR to convince the public that a treatment is necessary when the fishery finally tanks out. You would be surprised at the resistance from other anglers if a treatment was proposed in the near future.

Sounds like I will not be ice fishing there this year. There have got to be a few monster tigers in there with all the food to eat but good luck catching them. I know J-man fishes scofield a ton and if he says it sucks that is enough to keep me out of there. To bad LFC used to be an excellent fishery if you were willing to walk.
Eat it you dirty little fish!

It still will be. Chubs won't be in the part of the river where the browns live. They like slack water. The spillway pond and the first railroad bridge will have a bunch of chubs though.

Is that why I caught nothing but chubs in one the fastest flow areas of the river ?????? I guess the chubs have adapted.

Adapted....like the BORG....now nothing will kill em. I can see why folks hate the "chemical" solution..Strawberry still has Chubs...and I foresee Scofield still having Chubs tooFrown. At least a chemical solution will keep the fishing from becoming a complete Chub fishery...those things must say as they swim, "we are the chubs....all your fish will be assimulated". My vote...throw in the Tiger Muskies, Walleyes and Wiper.....hard to dissapoint fisherman with those swiming in the water.
