New girl in town
Hey everyone!

I'm a trout angler starting to get into bass fishing. I have my first club tournament on the 24th, so any advice for Utah Lake would be appreciated!

Welcome to the site Meg, I'm going to move your post to the Utah board, maybe some of the guys can give you some advice on bass fishing at Utah lake.

Senko in black or white against the weeds are a good place to start. 4 to 6 inches. Spinner Baits in the same colors various blade configurations. Just a starting point.

Meg, were you the lady that Dan was showing how to tie a snell knot yesterday at FishTech?

I was the dude that had that grip of rods needing new eyelets.

Spring is here, almost! Go get 'em!

Thanks Jmaze! I asked Jarrett Edwards about it today and this is exactly what he said--you are spot on! I appreciate the feedback!

Welcome! Plenty of nice people here to help you out. Only bass I have caught at UL so far is white bass, but I also don't have a boat or float tube yet. Maybe when I change that I will have some info for you.

Plenty of other knowledgeable people here though that should be able to help you out for sure.

We need to talk on Saturday. Hanging out with Dan, Byron, and the group can be really detrimental to your schooling !!! You'll forget about school and spend all your time on the water !! Is that Colby guy still hanging out with Jarrett ??? He's another you need to avoid !!!

Hey Leaky!

Our tournament is at Utah Lake. I am not familiar with the water and I'm really looking for suggestions on which part of the lake to go to and what to use at those specific spots. Any info you can pass on would be appreciated!

CoolCheck your PMs. Sending some stuff. Hesitate to post it on an open forum. The bassaholics get agitated if someone discloses their own private SECRET spot...known only by thousands of others.

TubeDude,

You're the best! I see that you have written a book on Utah Lake. Do you write about other bodies of water as well? Is this a hobby or a business?

Yeah guys way to go, a girl posts and she's mauraded by info. I had to find out by myself, (more rewarding that way anyway i suppose) but wow my buddy pulled one out of UL just the other day that weighed 5lbs. Found way better lures then Senkos.

I'd like to think that they helped me because I'm new, not just because I'm a girl. ;)

So Kyle, what's better than Senko's?

CoolHobby or business? It has been both for most of my life. Much of my working career required me to organize and write.

My Utah Lake book is a collection of "writeups" I have put together over the years into one more or less organized group.

Doing the same thing for Willard Bay, Starvation and Deer Creek but I am a long way from finishing. Too much "R & D" on the water keeps me from the keyboard.

Hope you develop many new up close and personal relationships with the basses.

My partner was randomly drawn--but he's an awesome angler already!

Thanks for all of the advice everyone! 12 hours until my debut into the competitive fishing world...

throw a 3/8 char/white spinnerbait as tight to the bank you can get away with. The fish are in tight feeding especially in the low light.
