Flyfishergal new to Houston
New to the Houston area and looking to find some fly fishin' buddies. Anyone? Areas to fish? Do I really have to get waders? I relocated here from Florida, so I am used to super blue waters. Wanna go?

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. I haven't seen anything on the Houston area. Have you posted on the Texas forum also??

I hope that you can find some people in your area. You might check with the sporting goods stores for information on clubs there.

No, I am new to this whole 'forum" thing. I used to just be able to walk out my back door and fish the flats everyday. Texas forum? I'll check it out. And am I the only chic that fly fishes? Damn, it sure seems so!

Anyhoo..... Thanks again... :)

No, you aren't the only "chic" that fly fishes. There are quite a few of us on here. You can't always tell by the username. Cool

Here is a link to the Texas forum. http://www.bigfishtackle.com/.../gforum.cgi?forum=57

I don't know how active it is, or how many are actually fly fishers or girls. But you can find a lot of good information just by reading back through some of the posts.

There is also a Saltwater forum

Hey thank you so very much. I am headed out by myself for the weekend. I can't stand it anymore. I'm sure I'll find lots of good fat reds out there somewhere. They're just waiting!

Thanks again! :)

im from texas but moving to utah havent started fly fishing but i guess you fish salt and brackish i can share a couple of my favorite spots to fish for slot and bull reds(specs too).

google map
beach drive, Texas City, TX
you will see some water ways when you zoom in on the map. i like to fish around here
if you head down to the very end of that road you will hit where moses lake mets the bay(good fishing there too).

another gem is in san leon, tx
bayshore park, san leon, tx google map it.
looking at the map on the left you will see the waterway go inland park at the park and walk under the bridge and go upstream. you can get some good reds there.
i also get my bait mullet and shrimp here mostly.

another place in galveston is seawolf park. usually good trout and flounder fishing here.
