Memorial Day Green
As many of you know (FG), weather was bad for Saturday and Sunday (snow anyone?) over Memorial Day and to top it off, Green River flows were at 5,000 to 6,000 cfs. Monday things settled down, so in spite of flows still being at 4,800 cfs, we headed out for a day of fishing.

Deep waters meant long nymph leaders that made casting more of a challenge, and the fish were not as cooperative, but mid-morning we nabbed some big good ones on cicadas. What a thrill to watch them come from below and smack that fly, While we caught fewer fish, they were larger and more feisty than last year.

I can't think of anything better than spending the day on the Green with my favorite people. Look at my daughter's expression with her big brown -- she's now 25 but the same look she had catching fish when she was 5. Good times.

Our guide was Rod Bowden who spends the summer in the Henry's Fork, Yellowstone area. He took us on our first fly fishing trip last year. He's tough on you but we learn a lot and catch fish.

I took a lot of notes and hope to take my Assault XX down the Green a little later in the summer.
