Shoshone Lake, Yellowstone Park Report-With Video
Last week we spent five days and four nights on Shoshone Lake in Yellowstone National Park. It was a great trip with a little bit of everything. We canoed, fished, camped, and explored the geyser basin.

I didn't fly fish this time because it is a pain out of the canoe with my son. We just trolled wobblers for the most part. I did use tube jigs with non lead heads some of the time. I love fishing that way, but it was difficult for my son and wife.

This video is a bit long for most people (16 min). I think it might be of interest to those of you who want to see what a canoe/fishing trip to Shoshone Lake is like. If you just want the fishing sections scan through the camping and canoeing.

Hope you enjoy the video.

It looks like you all had a great time. Nice video and awesome soundtrack. John Denver always reminds me of road trips with the family as a kid.

Great video! I enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful scenery and some good fish too.

Very nice that your wife got to go along without all of the kids to take care of.

Thanks for sharing your great trip and your family with us!

Thanks everyone. It was a great experience. My wife did enjoy the time away but was missing the other kids by the end.

I tried to talk her into the windriver hike this week but she didn't want to leave the littel ones again this summer.

Looks like fun. That portage up the Lewis is no easy task. Especially on low water years. Ive been up there several times since I was a youth. That place is amazing. You can see all the way to the bottom in at least 50 fow. Some of my best and biggest fish were caught in the narrows on the north side. Have some bad memories up there too. Helped pull a dead ranger out of the water back in the mid 90's after his kayak capsized on wipe caps. Ive seen some pretty scary day on the water up there but looks like you had some good weather. Thanks for sharing! Brings back a ton of memories!!!!

It is a great trip with just a enough "high adventure" to make it interesting. I went on my first canoe trip with my grandparents when I was nine. So we take each of our kids on their own canoe trip when they are ten. They like the individual attention.

Great video -- enjoyed watching all of it. Great that you are building life-long memories with your children.
