Spend a large part of most days makin' or repairin' stuff for a lot of other people. As TubeBabe says, "It keeps me off the streets and out of trouble." Ha. That's what she thinks.

Try to get in a couple of fishing trips a week...when Mama Nature don't find out about it too far in advance and pitches a hissy fit.

Bein' retired, I am my own boss. Great hours but lousy benefits and a surly manager.

9-5? Sounds about right for a good long nap.
Aw nice Pat! Six Saturdays and a Sunday.
Just one more brookie........

I knew the utah bft community had some diversity! another great thread for us fellow fisher-people to get more acquainted with one another. Also by knowing what others do maybe members can help other members out.

So if you need a comcast hook up hit me up

My wife and I owned a fly shop for almost 10 years, but realized that doing what we loved was actually destroying our love of it. Got out in 2007 and have been an independent insurance broker ever since. Like some of you, I say "Pfffft" to 9-5, since I pretty much do/say/fish whenever I want.

You should probably call me about your boat/homeowners/car insurance... /cough

I work at the Center for High Performance Computing at the Univ of Utah. I spend most of my time running the HPC file system and compute resources we have there. While we have all walks of life when it comes to types of operating systems I get to spend most of my time with linux. Work feels a lot like getting paid to play... Except when I think about how I could be out fishing... ;)

I'm often part of a team that manufactures automated machinery for industry and military. I'm a machinist and electronic designer with many more skills that I deliberately gained over the years by choosing jobs to learn new skills rather than just sticking to one because my career objective was to manufacture products of my own design. I'm quite innovative and at heart an entrepreneur.

I'm very much into preparedness and am quite sure it will be needed. Ironically, I could be more prepared by being wealthy with a business of my own, but chose not to risk diverting preparedness assets to business investment into a society and economy that is on a course to what will be known as The Great Collapse.

I became fair at fly fishing and very good at fly tying. But, I put all that aside to learn fishing with lures which is still new to me though I'm doing amazing well because I'm serious about learning as if it is life or death as it probability is exactly that. I don't hold back on buying new equipment and lures in great excess for redundancy for reliability and with excess beyond that being valuable barter items in times when there are no stores nor manufacturing. Fly fishing skills take longer and more dedication to acquire and might be better preparedness to be able to provide food in future harsh times, but the more conventional fishing equipment is better as barter items because novices either already know how to use it or can quickly learn.

Ronald :)

be prepared, be very prepared

9-5? How about 24x7 - I'm a BFT Mod now! The pay sux, but some of the benefits are pretty cool.

I used to be a Molecular Biologist then ended up in computers. Became a programmer - print and mail, "business communications" they call it. It's not "junk mail" - that's a different division.

I actually run more of a 7-3, that way once in a while I can run off for an afternoon during the week.

UPS, Center clerk and hub whore. If you moved and forgot to update your amazon account, if you don't know where you live (happens), or if you need it returned, there's a one in seven chance I did it. Besides that I load trailers, sort packages, and generally deal with idiots.
