South Florida Peacock Bass
Peacock Bass fishing in South Florida is still good despite these cold days. Here's a few pictures of the last few trips we've taken. The big fish weighed in at 7 lbs. and the other beauty weighed 5 lbs.

Cool If you want some awesome peacock action in Florida I would recommend captpeacock any day. My brother and I went a few years ago and caught a lot of peacocks and largemouth bass with him. My brother had gone with him before and had great results and big fish. So he and I went down together and the peacock bass fishing was awesome. heres some of the peacocks I caught with him and Im planning another trip soon.

Hey Captain,I made a discovery about ten years ago and now I'm trying to share with the community by capturing all this on video.
Peacock Bass do feed under low light conditions,and throughtout all hours of the night!
Small jointed rapallas work well along with small x-raps,larger lures will work as well,as long as they rattle.Don't use rattle traps they shake off too easy but do work.
For fishing during high water use bright colors,yellow is good.

Its been years since getting one of these
I believe its a speckled P-bass....Unsure

That looks looks to be a Kelberi peacock bass. Cichla Kelberi is the scientific name. The common names are too interchangeable and confusing. Most commonly, the speckled peacock bass is in reference to Cichla Temensis which can get to 30 lb or more and which the South American rivers are famous for. That in your hand is definitely not a Temensis since it has no black on the operculum gill plate. A temensis has black behind the eye on the operculum. Also it is more elongate in body shape.

Oh sure thing! Glad to help with clarification of that peacock. At some pet shops in Utah that kelberi will cost you some 500 bucks. Ocellaris is common in most shops and run at 15 bucks for a 2 inch fry.
