Lake Mead (North End) 8-30-12
Went out to echo before the weather came in. 100% perfect weather this morning. More or less zero wind and no one around. On the water at sunrise and off at 1. Didn't catch anything too special. 15 smallies and 8 large mouths. A couple 2 pounders everything else was 1 - 1 1/2 pounds.

You know me. Usually I toss squarebills 95% of the time on the water except yesterday... lol Squarebills just weren't getting it done.

Strike King 3XD cranks
Strike King 1/4oz lipless cranks (What I caught the fish above on)
5" Yamamoto single tail grubs

Those 3 were the best performers.

I did catch a couple squarebill fish early on and a couple spinnerbait fish.

A couple on drop shots.

In the end I had 8 rods in the front of the boat with me. Trying everything to find something they liked. I guess the only good thing about the daughter in school now. I can steal her rods Wink

Sounds like my last attempt. Had to work for the fish we caught. There is a lot of bait in the water now - presumably a large gizzard shad spawn. Every fish we caught was puking up little 1" shad on the way in. We saw one school of baby shad balled up in a cove, and ran into a school of 10" gizzards in open water that were jumping like dolphins.

Harder to catch the fish when they are already stuffed full of shad.
