New Tankara Rod
My realtor gave me a Tankara rod as a thank you yesterday. Looks like it will be fun,he has been bragging it up for years. Now I am excited to give it a try. I have been tying flys today and that, like, doubles the expectation!

So, which one? I am looking at the Daiwa. I make furled leaders in 10' to 12' JamesWink

10' Daiwa is all I can tell you about it,Japanese writing. looks fun and I am planning to try it tomarrow on a small creek. He tells me a lot of the time he fishes with only a couple feet of leader.

That is a popular rod and one of the more expensive. Lucky you. A couple feet leader? But off a line right? I make these longer leaders but you add tippet to them. The Furled Leader is essentially the line.

Jealous!

No a couple feet off of the tip of the rod. he says he changes leader length with every different creek. Short allows him to weave in brush.

Yes it is. I used the rod today,I can see it being very useful on a lot of the creeks I fish and it will probably go on every backpack trip from here on out. But it won't replace my fly rods, a couple times I could have used a 25' cast. It was a cool experiance though. On the 3rd fish I lost fly and leader to coming off the connection. I really like how light it is and not dealing with a fly line and reel and managing the system through the brush was awsome, not once did I hook a branch behind me.
