FYI. The proposal to change the spearfishing regulations to be the same as hook and line angling; i. e., 12 months of the year, all legal waters, was presented at a couple of the RAC meetings during the past two weeks. However, I do not believe that either RAC made a formal recommendation on the proposal.
Because no formal proposal was forthcoming from the RACs and the idea has not been part of our public process this year, the DWR is not proposing this change for 2013. The Wildlife Board does take comments during the meeting and can include items not in our recommendations, but it is relatively rare that they do so.
We encourage all anglers to be part of the process and are welcome to attend any of the RAC or Wildlife Board meetings which are related to fishing topics.
I have not seen the final agenda for the November 1 Wildlife Board meeting, but they usually start around 9 am.
We should have the final agenda in the next couple of weeks. People who are interested in the process should keep an eye on our website www.wildlife.utah.gov
or should email me if they want more information on the time, location or topics of the board meeting.
