Ah the Mr Jiggers - one of my favoritist gadgets.

Sometimes if you can't get 'out' to first ice, ya do what ya can (a little practice run in the back yard)

On the ice at UL thanksgiving Weekend 2 or 3 years ago. some nice Gills for the fryer and a fish stealing mink or something, an a palm fish. CANT WAIT. I even got a new boat and i still love the ice fishing days

Is that over by the pump house? That little fish thief stole one of my whities last year, and was caught rummaging thru some dude's cooler/bucket while he was fishing one of his other holes.

I suspect if he was getting into your cooler - he was probably trying to nab some malty-pops.

Don't you know - you gotta bring TWO of them pups with your fishing, or they'll snaggle all your brewskis!

Just got my ice gear out of the rafters in my garage took me a little while trying to figure out how i got it up their without dumping everything inside. my bait pucks were still full of bait , turns out meal worms turn into beetles and wax worms turn into something i wasn't going to dig for under the dust . I added a ice pole to my collection i caught while trolling with my anchor at fishlake, luck i just pulled up the anchor and it was sitting on top SCORE everything was still in great condition anyway Pic is of my sled and poles and a home made jigger.

I can't wait! Plan to hit Mantua asap...keep me posted on the ice conditions. This forum is great - you guys always hit me with good intel.

Goals for the season: get first Musky or Pike, hammer the Perch, and 5+ lb trout.

Hope to see you all on the HardWater!

Going to try fishing all night on the ice this season
Any tips on a heater would be awesome or general tips. Was going to get mr buddy, but I've been told they don't work over 5,000.

I have had pretty much those exact same goals... Each year for the last ten. Still waiting/fishing.

Sounds like you're quite the Mantua fan. Maybe we've crossed sleds before?

I've got some days off between Xmas and New Years - and have full on intentions of spending some of those days at the Mantua Circus. Don't know if anything else will be frozen up by then, but Mantua is sure to be.

It was my first ice, but won't be my last! Hope the perch make a good showing, - can always count on the Gills...

Ice Ice Baby!

I got an Lowrance that has a GPS and Flasher/Finder - too low end for the maps, but you can step up. For $5 bills - I think you get into the SD card-Map download business.

But I love the versatility of graph to flasher mode, though I find myself drawn to graph mode - as it gives you a history. If you are glued to the screen - flasher is pretty cool - once I figured out how to read/adjust sensitivity.

Mantua can be tough - RE: intereference. Shallow pond, lots of traffic - so lots of bounces. Plus a few ricochets I'd bet! But - some fun fish all the same!
