Fishing

Went to scofield on Wednesday and was fishing at 630 till about 4pm an between me and my buddy we caught over 70. No real big size but it was a blast. Wanting to go to strawberry this Monday. Can anyone give me updates on the ice? And where is the best place to go for safe ice?

Anyone hit Scofield over the weekend that could give any update on the ice condition and/or how the fishing was?

Went to chicken creek east today at strawberry. Fishing was slow. Looked like fishing was slow for everyone else there too. Probably has to do with the moon phase. There was a good solid 5" of ice with a few inches of snow on top. There has been enough people and sleds That's there were snow packed trails to the ice. Hopefully it picks up. Planning on going to strawberry or starvation for new years.

Fished it on Saturday for the tournament, we caught over 75 fish between four of us from about 8 till 1 so the fishing was still good. The Ice is covered with snow and has a layer of slush under that probably about 4 inches thick but it was cold enough that it wasn't a big problem just made the walk a little bit harder.

Hit Scofield Monday and had a lot of bites on white jig tipped with NC, all pretty light bites. Caught about 12 over about 6 hrs time and were too small to bring home. It was on/off during first few hours and after about noon it died. Fished in the Madsen Bay area in about 8 inches of ice, first 3-4" was frozen slush. Did see one guy carry out about a 5 pounder off the ice that was an eye catcher!

That was my buddy with the fish. It was a 6lb 25 in tiger. We only caught 30. It got slow when everyone started showing up. Will be going again saturday

Wow, that was a nice fish! What was your buddy using to catch that lunker? Do you have any photo's to show? Thanks for the info.
