Jeremiah T. Bagwell's Bio

by: Jeremiah T. Bagwell
Since becoming infatuated with bass fishing at the age of two when his grandparents Arnold and Juanita King of Taylor Ridge, Illinois began taking him fishing, today Jeremiah continues his love for the sport. "When I was growing up my grandpa used to say, you know there are more fish out there than just bass right? Because all I ever wanted to fish for was bass," Jeremiah explains. "Heck I think I was the only kid in my grade school that would rather read BassMaster Magazine instead of a comic book".

In 2002, Jeremiah had 3 first place finishes, 2 Big Bass awards, and a total of 8 top ten tournament finishes. This consistency enabled Jeremiah to qualify for the Wal-Mart BFL regional championships and secure a spot on the 2003 EverStart Series Tour.

For the 2003 season, Jeremiah will continue to keep a hectic fishing schedule with nearly twenty tournaments already on the calendar. Additionally he will be the Director of the American Bass Anglers Tournament Trail District #46 in Northwest Illinois. The location for these events is just simply awesome. With miles and miles of the Mississippi river to fish, anglers are almost certain to bring in a boat load.

As if all this weren't enough, Jeremiah also has a passion for writing. His articles can be read on a variety of fishing-related Internet sites and in the near future, they will be featured in a variety of print publications. A rough estimate showed that his articles are on Web sites that are viewed by over 5.5 million visitors a year. Additionally Jeremiah is a part of the Fishin' Kids "Ask a Pro" segment on the Pro Bass Networks. This program allows kids to email their fishing related questions to have them answered by a Bass Pro. A similar program was just created on another Web site after Jeremiah convinced the owner that it would be a positive attribute for the site. A recent deal also introduced anglers from the United Kingdom to the world of American Bass Fishing. Jeremiah's articles can now be seen by the estimated 1.1 million viewers in the U.K. "This deal was probably one of the most exciting I have been associated with. Not only I am taking my information distribution network to a whole different part of the world but, it also places my sponsor's products in a whole new market", explains Bagwell.

As a Business Management and Marketing Major, Jeremiah is constantly looking at different angles to promote his sponsors. "I handle all of my sponsorship deals from the proposal stage completely through the signing of the contracts. The way I see it, if I can put my education to work for me in the fishing industry, then I feel I definitely got my money's worth", Jeremiah explained. "I only align myself with sponsors whose products I actually use. I don't want to be like some of the guys in the industry that are simply pushing a product to get a kick back. I push products that I truly believe in. I don't care if I lose a little competitive advantage by telling the world what I catch my fish on. The thing that makes me happy is making everyday people better anglers".
