Hot Bean Recipes (non chili beans)
From south of the border to the North Pole, somebody must have some awesome bean recipes for hot or heated beans. We have a different thread just for Chili Beans. Please feel free to share some.Cool

Adzuki Beans In reply to
1 c Adzuki beans
4 c Water
1 Strip kombu seaweed
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. sea salt
Sweet Variation: Add 2 cups butternut squash peeled and diced, the last 1/2 hour of cooking.

Kaffir Lime Leaf Black Eye And Aduki Bean Croquettes In reply to
4 1/2 oz Black eyed beans; cooked
6 Kaffir lime leaves
1 1 in piece lemon grass
4 1/2 oz Aduki beans; cooked
1 1 in piece root ginger; chopped
1 Red chilies; (1 to 2)
Groundnut oil for frying

In a food processor combine all the ingredients and blend until a rich paste has developed.
Form small medallions from the paste.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan and shallow fry the croquettes for 3-4 minutes.

Savory Bean Soup In reply to
4 c Cooked AM Beans (Adzuki Beans, Pinto Beans, Kidney Beans, Black Beans, Anasazi Beans)
2 c Water or stock
2 tb Lime juice
4 ts Olive oil
2 sm Onions; finely chopped
2 ts Chili powder
2 ts Sea salt; OR...
2 tb Tamari soy sauce

Simmer all ingredients until thick. Garnish with plain yogurt.
TO COOK BEANS: Rinse beans. Cook 2 cups beans in 5 cups water. Bring water to a boil. Add beans. Turn temperature to low or simmer. Cover with heavy lid. Simmer 2 to 3 hours until tender. DO NOT season until beans are done.
VARIATION: Saute chopped green peppers, 2 finely chopped garlic cloves, 2 stalks of celery chopped, until barely tender. Add to soup and simmer

Stir Fry Lentils and Beans In reply to
1/4 c Sesame oil
1/2 c Diced onion
1/2 c Diced celery
1 c Sliced mushrooms
2 c Cooked AM Red Lentils
1 c Cooked AM Adzuki beans
1/2 c Fresh mung bean sprouts
1/2 c Sliced water chestnuts
2 ts Low sodium tamari sauce
1/2 ts Marjoram
1/4 ts Nutmeg
1/4 ts Garlic powder
1/4 ts Onion powder

Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok and saute the onion, celery and mushrooms until brown. Add the remaining ingredients and cook, stirring until heated through.

All Day Beans In reply to
2 (16-oz. ) cans Bush's Original baked beans
1 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 cup bottled chili sauce
2 tbsp molasses (country style)
1/4 cup strong coffee
1 (16-oz. ) can pineapple chunks, drained
2 tbsp dark brown sugar
1/4 cup bourbon
Mix all ingredients together in slow cooker and cook on Low for 8 hours. Steam off excess liquid during the last hour by leaving off lid.
Serves 8 to 10.

Bacon and Baked Bean Sandwich In reply to
Hard cooked egg; sliced
Bacon; cooked
Lettuce
Baked beans; hot or cold
Toast

Baked Bean Sausage Casserole In reply to
1 pk (10 Oz.) Frozen Lima Beans
3 cn (1 Lb.) Baked Beans
2 cn (1 Lb.) Kidney Beans; drained
1 lb Pork Link Sausage
1/2 lb Smoked Ham; cut in 1/2" cubes
1 tb Salt
1/2 ts Mustard
1/2 tb Pepper
1 cn (8 Oz) Tomato Sauce
1/2 c Catsup
1/4 c Brown Sugar
1 md Onion; chopped

Cook lima beans 10 minutes. Drain, mix with baked beans, drained kidney beans, port sausage (cut each link in 3 pcs.) ham, tomato sauce and seasonings with 3 1/2 qt. casserole. Bake uncovered in 400 degrees for one hour. Add water during cooking if casserole seems dry.
Serves 25 at buffet.

Baked Bean Soup In reply to
1 1/2 lb Can baked beans
6 sl Cooked bacon -- chopped
2 tb Bacon drippings
2 tb Onion -- finely chopped
1 lb Can stewed tomatoes
1 tb Brown sugar
1 tb Vinegar
1 ts Seasoned salt
Combine all ingredients in slow-cooking pot. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours.

Baked Beans 1 In reply to
1 cn (1 lb. 15 oz.) Pork 'n Beans
1 c DPQ sauce; (recipe below)
DPQ Sauce:
2 1/2 c Dr Pepper
1/2 c Oil
1/2 c Lemon juice
1 c Catsup
1 ts Garlic powder
1/4 c Dry minced onion
2 ts Salt
1 ts Pepper
1/4 ts Crushed red pepper or red pepper sauce
1 ts Basil

Mix together in casserole dish and bake uncovered at 350? for one hour.
DPQ SAUCE: Blend together on stir speed of blender for 2 minutes. Store in tightly sealed container and refrigerate. Shake well before using. (Will keep for several weeks in refrigerator.)
Yield: 4 1/2 cups

1 lb Can baked beans
1/2 c Ketchup
1 tb Brown mustard
2 tb Brown sugar
Dash of worchesteshire
Dash of hickory smoke
salt, pepper, garlic powder and thyme to taste. Bake in the oven for one hour (about 400 degrees)

Baked Beans 3 In reply to
      

1 lg Can of Bushes baked beans
1/2 lb DARK BROWN sugar
1 tb Prepared mustard
1/2 to 1 c catsup
1 tb Or more dried onions or
1 whole onion, peeled
1/2 lb Bacon, cut in 2" pieces
Mix everything together. Put in roaster or casserole. Lay strips of bacon on top. Bake at 350 degrees until strips of bacon are well done.

3 slices bacon, crispy fried and crumbled
2 cans (16 oz. each) baked beans, drained
1/2 green pepper, seeded and chopped
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup hickory-smoke barbecue sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1-1/2 teaspoons prepared mustard
Mix all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 8 to 12 hours (on High setting for 2 to 3 hours).
6 to 8 servings (about 1-1/2 quarts).

4 cn Baked beans
1 lb Bacon; (opt.)
1 lb Brown sugar
2 tb Liquid smoke
1 c Ketchup
1 c Dark karo syrup
1 md Onion; (opt.)
1 c Pineapple chucks; drained, (opt.)
Cut bacon in 1 inch squares, fry with chopped onion till crisp. Drain off fat. Put bacon, onion, and all other ingredients into a slow cooker and cook on low for eight hours.

Baked Beans Au Glow-Glow In reply to
4 c Canned baked beans
1/4 c Molasses
1/4 c Ketchup
1 tb Yellow table mustard
4 sl Bacon; cut in half
1/2 c Dark rum
Preheat oven to 3500F.
Combine ingredients, except bacon and rum, in large casserole.
Cover beans with bacon slices and bake until the bacon is done -- 2 hours.
Warm rum in small sauce pan, ignite and spoon over the hot beans.

Baked Beans Deluxe In reply to
2 x 440g cans baked beans in tomato sauce
1 Stick celery, chopped
1 Onion, chopped
1 Green pepper, chopped
190g can champignons drained
450g can pineapple pieces drained
1/2 c Treacle
1 ts Worcestershire sauce
1 Dash tabasco sauce
200 g Smoked frankfurts, sliced
Combine baked beans with celery, onion, green pepper, champignons and pineapple in large ovenproof dish. Stir in treacle, worcestershire sauce, tabasco and frankfurts. Bake, uncovered, in moderate oven 1 1/2 hours.
Serve with hot wholemeal bread or rolls. Casserole can be made up to 1 day ahead; store, covered, in refrigerator. It can be frozen for up to 2 months. Recipe is unsuitable to microwave.

Barbecue Beans In reply to
1 ga Baked beans (Allen's)
1 ea Green pepper -- diced
1 ea Onion -- diced
1 Bottle liquid Barbecue Smoke
1 c Mustard
1 c Cookie's BBQ Sauce
5 tb BBQ Spice
1/2 c Maple syrup (Pure)
Mix all ingrediets well and cook slowly for 4 to 5 hours over a slow heat

Barbecued Baked Beans In reply to
2 Slices bacon, cut into 1/2 Inch pieces
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 16 oz cans baked beans
1/4 c Brown sugar
1/4 c Barbecue sauce or 1/4 cup
Ketchup plus 1 T Dijon Mustard

Combine bacon and onion in a 2 quart microwave-safe casserole. Microwave on high power 3 to 5 minutes, or until onion is tender and bacon partially cooked. Stir in beans, brown sugar and barbecue sauce. Cover with waxed paper; microwave on Medium power 8 to 10 minutes or until heated through, stirring after 4 minutes

1 can 28 oz Baked Beans with bacon and brown sugar sauce, undrained
1 can 11 1/2 oz eight-vegetable juice
6 franks or hot dogs, cut into 1" slices
3 med. carrots, chopped (1 1/2 c)
1 lg onion, chopped (1 c)
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Mix all ingredients in 3 1/2 to 6 qt cooker Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours.

Bean and Franks Soup 2 In reply to
3 md Carrots, sliced
2 md Onions, chopped
1 Garlic Clove, minced
2 tb Butter/Margarine/Bacon Fat
28 oz Baked Beans in Brown Sugar Sauce
11 1/2 oz V-8 or Tomato Juice
8 Frankfuaters, cut into 1" pieces
1 ts Worsterceshire Sauce
American or Cheddar Cheese, shredded
Cook carrots, onions and garlic in the butter in a 3 Qt sauce pan. Stirring frequently until crisp and tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients except for the cheese. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until hot. Serve with cheese.

1 c Ring Bologna-cubed
1 cn 8 oz pineapple tidbits, drained
1/2 c French dressing
1 cn 16 oz baked beans/molasses
1/4 c Green pepper, chopped
8 Buns, split, toasted
Combine first five ingredients in skillet - simmer slowly about 10 minutes until right consistency for sandwich filling.
Spoon mixture on bun.
Serve with chips for a very filling lunch or light dinner.

Bourbon Baked Beans In reply to
4 cn Boston baked beans; (16 oz)
1 16 oz can crushed pineapple -- drained
1 Jars Chili sauce; (12 oz)
1/2 c Strong brewed coffee
1/2 c Bourbon
1/4 c Firmly packed brown sugar
1 tb Molasses
3/4 ts Dry mustard
Combine beans and remaining ingredients in a slow cooker or other slow cooker. Cover and cook on high 2 hours; uncover and cook to desired consistency. Serve with a slotted spoon. NOTE: To make strong coffee, dissolve 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules in 1/2 cup hot water.

Corny Bean Bake In reply to
2 cn Baked beans -(16-oz each)
1/2 lb Cocktail sausages -cut in bite-size pieces
1/4 c Barbecue sauce
1 c Crushed corn chips
1 c Shredded Monterey jack cheese
1/2 c Chopped green onion

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a shallow 2-quart casserole, combine beans, sausages and barbecue sauce. In a medium bowl, combine corn chips, cheese and onion. Top beans with corn chip mixture. Bake 25 minutes. Makes 6-8 servings.
