Automatic reel vs standard reel
Ok, I have been going through my newly acquired fly fishing gear and have come across a dilemma. I only have one reel that is hand crank, and that is on my...less than top of line rod. I do, however, have a few old auto reels that I am curious about. What are the pros and cons of slapping an automatic reel on my rod as compared with a traditional reel? What do most avid fly fishermen(Or women!) prefer to use themselves?

I see no advantage to an auto reel. They are heavy for one thing, plus too much can go wrong. I prefer a reel I can adjust the drag which is changing depending on how much line is out, or palming the reel

Some things are better left alone, Even though, some feel they know better.
